This should be posted in the jig making section.
Not bad for a first tie.
With practice you can get the body tight and uniform but it will catch crappie right now easily! Like the tail feathers! Good work!
Thanks... I thought I was in that section... This app confuses me sometimes... Is there a way to move or delete it and repost in the right section?
I am sure one of the monitors will move it. Congrats on your first tie. That is pretty good.
Nice looking tie.
Good Looking First tie. Join a Swap and see others work and share your work, Best way I have found to improve your skills.
Thank yall.... How does one join a swap?
That will work fine. Good start. Now the addiction!
Made a few more last night! Attachment 184984
There is one getting ready to happen. Check the jig swap section at the top of the jig tying forum crappiepappa is running it, he can give you all the info.
The new one look good. I like the color combinations
Awesome thanks... The addiction has kicked in just ordered more stuff!
Looks great!! After you catch a fish on a hand tied hand made bait a bought jig(wal-mart )is not the same!! nononoAnd you sure do not want to lose one!!:biggrin:highfive
Yes it is an addiction there are a ton of people on this board that will be very willing to help you along the way. If you need jig heads and I mean nice ones at a great price. Give bobogreybeard on this forum a shout. He will take care of you and is always willing to offer some advice.
Oh awesome... Thanks... I will definitely have to give him a shout! I just ordered heads but didn't notice until it was to late I got Walleye head instead of round!
Welcome to tying. Nice start, jigs get better with each one tied and those already are looking good.
Yes get ready for that first fish, they will set the hook just that much deeper in you, LOL! Nice first!
Thank yall!
When you catch your fist fish on your first hand tied jig, it is like nothing you have felt. Be sure to cut the jig off at that point and put it up. You will want to save it for the trophy case. Do not tempt fate with it, because about 9 out of 10 who do, end up loosing the jig in brush or something.
Great looking first ties and welcome to the insanity.
Let me know if I can be of any help. There is littlerally probably 500 years of tying experience of this board and most of us will help you out along the way. Someone once helped all of us, so it is a pleasure to pay it forward.
Good luck,
Bobo
Good looking jigs, you're well on the way. Learn how to use the tips of the material you choose and not trim them off. You get more action out of the tips and a more natural look. Just one step of many. Keep after it and piece by piece you'll be helping folks here before you know it. And welcome from Middle Tennessee.
Just a few more here! Attachment 185873
Tried a two tone out... Needs a little work! Haha

I think it looks neat. Also, you may try to run your flash a little farther our the back of the jig then the marabou is. I am not sure what size head that is, but I generally try to run flash and living rubber about 1/2 again as long as the tail feathers if that makes since.
Bobo
Thanks... Just figured I would try something different... The head size is the 1/16 I got from you... Not sure what living rubber is?
Living rubber is basically the material that is used in a Bass Skirt bait, tied into a crappie jig like you would tie in flash.
Bobo
Oh yeahhhh... Completely forgot about that... I still have a lot to learn! Thanks for the advice!
We all had to crawl before we could walk and walk before we could run. Just stick with it. You are doing great.
