Toledo Bend gathering food post

Decided to make this a separate thread.

The lodge has a stove, microwave, frig, etc. - a full kitchen. Plenty of outlets for plug-ins if you guys need them. We'll fry out back under the pavilion.

As some of you fellas know, we have a pot luck on Friday evening and the fry on Saturday evening. Since ya'll liked what I did last time, I am going to do the same. I'll make and bring a big pot of crawfish etouffee for Friday (Danny - I'm going to need for you to make the rice again, along with some pecan pies please :)). Saturday I'll bring a few pounds of gator as well as some bagged crappie fillets just in case. Ann will prepare a big pan of bread pudding with accompanying rum sauce for it. I'll bring my fryer again along with some peanut oil.

We're going to need some folks with additional fryers, I think the last couple of years we had 5 or 6 going - not sure. Danny says he'll check on what supplies we have in stock at his camp. The lodge will be open all day Friday and Saturday. Ann will be there going back and forth if you need anything. As usual, the food will be excellent.

Bruce - please place as a sticky.

Randy....let me know what I need to bring that will travel good....paper towels, napkins, tin foil, aluminum serving trays ,or whatever

I will bring my fry pot, basket and burner for Saturday night. I will also bring some egg plant to fry Saturday night with oil, eggs and flower.
I will bring something for Friday night, just don't know what yet.

I'm gonna' bring the dogs and run a pack of hogs outta the Sabine river bottom right through camp. You guys be ready to shoot them when they come by and we'll have all the meat we need. Is there a good smoker up there? If so I'll bring a big box of boudin to smoke. I'm lookin at 13 cases of left-over MRE's from Hurricane Ike...if anyone is interested...

Of course I'll do the pies Randy. We had a banner year on our couple trees and put up some pecan's . I'll do 4 pies and the rice. I'll do my usual tamale's but will fix them up a little. .Chucktx, we all bring a big pan or pot of something. Then we all share, so don't over do it. Maybe enough for 20 or so to get a little. Also someone coming from out of town, a suggestion may be chips and dip. Would be easy to bring.

I make a killer jalapeno square appetizer...........plus my partner will bring something also.

Randy, what do you think about me filling my large ice chest full of soft drinks? Is there something else I could bring?

Attachment 187149Here is what I'll be staying in. If anyone wants to camp we'll be staying next door in the campgrounds. It is but a short walk to the pavilion. There are hot showers, sites with and without E and water. As much as I like roughing it I'll be on a site with both so I can charge the trolling motor batteries. I talked with the camp host and they seem like real friendly, accommodating people. The tent industry is shrinking. Many people are getting up off the ground: no rocks under your back, quicker to pitch camp, and believe it or not, MUCH warmer and more comfortable than any ground pad I currently own. Great for a quick afternoon nap when the bite slows too.

Cool Tony! There's a boat shed at the San Miguel campground, next to the landing that has electrical power for your trolling motor if you want to keep your boat in the water. We'll see you there!

Randy, Please add a gallon bag of fillets and a few pies as well as the soft drinks I'm bringing. Someone will have to fry filets. Might be catfish filet or two in there. Sorry!

Guys, What kind of drinks do you like? :dono Thought I would bring bottled water as well as at least three or four types of canned drinks based on what everyone says.

4 major drinks are coke diet coke dr pepper sprite...alot o people bring their own......errr.adult beverages......

Randy, we have enough cups, bowls, desert plates, and plastic ware. We could use one pack of large plates and napkins/paper towels. And some aluminum trays for serving the fish. Any one that wants to bring some of this, pipe in.

I am bringing a few rolls of paper towels and also some french fries

We old "Oregonians...new Texans ..don't have that fancy fish..so we can bring napkins, and bags of peanuts if that helps!

My wife is too, but there is always plenty for her to eat. You may have to save some leftovers from Friday night for Saturday night.
