Supposed to be 10 degrees here Thursday morning. Think I'll stay in the bed. You youngsters go out and tear em up.
I don't usually let the cold stop me. But I am gonna pass of Thursday

Thanks to Lees guide service Lake Martin for New Years day trip. Sparks and Bread man caught a good mess of crappie as we rang in 2015.Lee has much experience on the lake, has a new rig, with nice electronics. Hope to reschedule a trip in springs Thanks, Bread man

I bet you will be Busy BamaS. Cold snaps and first days of summer should keep you hopping.
Nothing use to stop me, but I don't know if it's because I'm older and wiser or older and colder, but I no longer fish below 45 degrees.
Its not the cold that makes it such a bad day ...it will be the WIND!!!I have and will fish in low temps if its a dead calm cold , other than having to swish the rod tip in the water to melt the ice about every other throw its not to bad if you got the right cold wear but.....Throw in anykind of wind ovr 5 mph especailly a 25 mph wind and its too brutal unless you got a good spot on the south side of a causeway out of the wind so it blows over you!! Also if anyone is out trying to run a boat in such cold temps wear goggles or you can actually freezer burn your eyes.They will heal but very painful according to my eye doc son.
I never thought about freezing your eyes. I know first hand how being flash burned by welding hurts.
You will need googles or a save phace tomorrow

Thermometer on the truck said 4 degrees this morning!
13 here ...pipes froze
That's never good. Gas company called the plant about 4 this morning and had us transfer the boilers over to propane because demand was higher then they could supply. Not enjoyable starting the vaporizers, pumps and getting everything started when its that cold with a 15 mph wind.
I love my crappie but not enough to handle this weather!

I've fished a few times when the temp was in the teens, hardest part was the line freezing in the rod eyes.
They did thaw, I can't find any busted. That's the first time in 25 yrs that has happened.had to be that wind.Quote:
