Same to you Grumpy! No snow down here but cold!
Yeh, 6 inches of snow no the wind machine is cranking up and headed for 17 below. You made a great choice getting outta here. Happy New Year to you and the the wife. Poured painted and tied my 2015 jigs. Had 25 dozen hanging at one point. Maybe I'll step up from 4 pound test and save a few more.
I ice fish Grumpy, so the winter is good for me. If there's no snow then I'm arrowhead hunting.
I walleye fish the Mississippi lebruce as long as I can get a boat in. And this year the ice monster has stayed at bay quite well. Good luck on the ice my friend. Grumpy
Iowa guy here, new to the sight.
Iowa guy here, new to the sight.
I have been tying jigs and dreaming of open water! I should go ice fishing more but I have been kind of a home body this winter. This recent warm spell has been torture, I know it won't last!
I remember those Iowa winters. I have family in Blakesburg.
Welcome to the sight HuntIa, glad to have you guys chime in. I'm not here alot but it amazes me how few Iowa folks are here on this site. I know ther are a lot of forums and I see Iowa represented well there but we don't seem to talk to each other much. I've been stringing up rods and pouring and painting jigs when i'''''m not on the river, or working more than I like.
I hear that. Waiting on this ice to go away... leaving for Mississippi mid march, counting the days!
I'm an Iowa native, moved to Tn. almost eight years ago. When in Iowa the nearest lake of any size was almost two hundred miles away so spent most of my days off on the Mighty Miss. Lots of crappie but not much on size. Wife and I are heading to lake Washington in Mississippi on 2/12. Been hearing about all them big slabs down there so we finally decided to make the trip.
Goog luck Fishawk, next day off Feb 26. Hopefully the river is open after our little snow. Ramps are froze again. Hey ZERO tonite, bet you dont miss that much. Tell the wife hi.
Dern, does everybody head south, i'm happy for you and heading down April 12th.
Hey, Iowan here, i want spring weather now, and want crappie now :fish
It has been a messed up winter! I also plan on a trip to MS and will let you all know how it goes. But crappie fishing is a crap shoot trying get that special time they are on the banks.
We're leaving Sunday night for Grenada. Will fish monday-friday. Sounds like it's going to be high water and tough fishing
It dont matter if its high or tough fishing, youre not in Iowa waiting to fish, enjoy my friend.
I just came on board today. Looks like a good site. I am from sw Iowa near Glenwood. Farm ponds mostly but have caught crappie in many states. Will be in Missouri and Texas catching crappie this year and probably Nebraska and south Dakota. Traveling for my job allows for this sometimes.
Leavin Sat for Missipi will report back when home
