I use Donnies gnats
Mine are in the mail as of this morning, so with the weather I should have them right before spring camp lol , I think most use #2's that didn't sound right lol , anyway going to tie a bunch up and only want to do it once will 50 times ha ha , I plan on using some of the 60 gnats from Donnie but up here I'd like to try just straight minnows in a few lakes
Matzuo Sickle Aberdeen Hook, Red Chrome - Walmart.com
I use #1 and 1/0 down here. Tie on them and straight minnow. This is best price I have found on them. If you have store close use free ship to store.
1/0 black chrome sickle for me just depends on who you ask but most folks I know like the 1/0
I use Gnats on some, and always have some straight minnows... I like the #2 214EL. Have caught both Bass and Cats over 10 lbs, and have not had any trouble with them.. They should bend straight if hung a little better...most of the time it works for me. On the Gnats...figure Donnie has tied enough to get it right.. The light hook allows the minnow to move more, and stress less..

Eagle Claw 202 Aberdeen hook in 1/0; $7.99 per 100 at Cabela's. Just like feelay uses! It took me two years to figure out he was right. The EL hooks bend on EVERY fish, and the Sickles punch such a big hole in the minnow it tends to fall off more often. That being said, them Sickles are scary sharp and rarely bend.
Got to remember you don't have as big as feesh with as big as mouth up here
I like using #2 214EL for minnows in Illinios, but in Ky, Mississippi I use gnats with the 1/0 and or a #1 gold abredeen hook.
Bob, give this a try, by useing this i can switch from plain hooks to gnats, or jigs fast and simple, its just a pre made leader with a kwik clip , i tie them up and save lots of time on the waterAttachment 184813
1/0 gold Eagle claw
You say that with conviction!
#2 for me.
Thanks guys , I'll have some tied up for here and Sippi
I like the 1/0 myself down here!
Looks to be a loop knot and a duolock snap.
I have decided to use #1/0 214EL this year in Mississippi. And #2 214EL everywhere else. I have caught fish in MS with up to a #4/0 hook.
Gamagatsu Octopus
I love the colored hooks for MInners
I've caught lots of fish pushing a 4/0 gold 202 Eagle Claw. Them suckers can't spit it out fast enough before it hooks em!!! [emoji4]
If I'm fishing with a float with a #2 hook and missing fish I move up to a 2/0 , 3/0 or 4/0. depending on the size fish that are caught.
