I have made up my mind that I'm going to buy BNM trolling rods. I'm Going to buy the Pro Staff Trolling Rods 14 footers X 6 and 16 foot X 2. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can get the best deal on them.

Monk
Should get a good deal during the Grizzly jig show. They usually have good discounts, plus they give Grizzly bucks you can even use on phone orders.

Monks the last time I bought some. Certain sales specials make a difference.
Monks has the best deal for sure and good to work with !!!
Can I swing a slab in the boat with a 16 footer?
Depends what u call a slab ?? I net almost all of mine most of the time but I have jerked some pretty good fish in the boat !!! I have a friend jerks ever thing in the boat with them !!!!
Slade, I read once on the MS board about some guy wanting to get all 18' rods and someone else said not to do that unless you have a 21' boat. I'm assuming it has to do with not being able to get to the end of the rod if you have problems, or maybe transporting them. Just a thought, I'm not sure how long your boat is, I'm working on getting 14 footers myself. Maybe someone else could comment on this if there is a problem with pole length vs boat length.
With the position of my transport rack (Creekslick 12 pole), my poles stick out the back of my 20' Xpress, and they are 16' poles. It doesn't hurt to have the tips stick out the back. It's virtually impossible for them not to. You can't mount a transport rack all the way forward on your bow. If you do, it's in the way of the trolling racks and the trolling motor, plus it's hard to get around the transport rack with poles in it when you're fishing two up front. The butt on the rods needs to be behind the fishing seat a little so you don't hit them when you move to the rear of the boat.Attachment 183818Attachment 183819
This is my original 10 pole rack. I've since upgraded to a 12 pole model. It has 4 rows of 3 rods.
That's good info to consider, a guy might even need to think about where he could mount his transport racks in relation to his boat set up so that he doesn't have way too much pole sticking out past the rack. I would assume too much pole sticking out past the rack would cause the ends to constantly be slapping together. Might eventually cause some damage to your pole tips or cause them to tangle up. I know with my boat we couldn't mount the back rack as far back as we would have liked to and with my 14 footers they bounce pretty wildly and do hang up on each other sometimes. Again just a thought.
I would go with Monks. I bought 4, 14' PSTs and then bought 4, 16' PSTs. I second the thought that you should go with 16 footers. I wish all mine were 16'.
I wish they would make the bgjp longer than the 16 but it is by far the best rod I have used for my style of fishing.
Check at Grizzlyjig.com all most any pole you want or need. Attachment 183825
If you don't have a rack like this and tips are close together get some of these and wrap your tips together about a ft from the tip eye. I used to have problems with them slapping together and broke a couple of tips because of it. No problems since I started wrapping them.

I have a Lowe Stinger 195. I rarely ever net a crappie, have noticed if I just go ahead and swing em in i loose less. Seems everytime I get a slab pappy on and try to net it, it ends up getting off at the surface. I have swung fish in over 2lbs with the 14 footers i have now. Poles I have now are ok, but I want to upgrade! Mine are perty darn big and heavy, but ya have to be TRYING to break one of those bad boys. So now I will have 2 different kinds! Thanyou all for yaws help! This site is awesome and saves me money from buying things i wouldn't be satisfied with.
i use these little wire ties to keep rod tips secure in transport to prevent tips from bouncing and banging against each other, you can buy em at home depot or lowes Attachment 183871Attachment 183872
Nice boat man!!!
LowePro are you gonna be spider-rigging or pull cranks? If you are gonna pull cranks I would recommend you look at the Wally Marshall Troll Tech. I guarantee you that you can swing a slab in the boat with a 16'er I swing them in with my 18'ers.
I got 3 16ft troll tech I will sell been used twice !!!
I use what Cray has . just have to get extras as sometimes forget to put em up and they blow out. Cheap, and easy-to-use
16' pst's, and I spider and pull cranks. 17' boat and 3 'hanging out the back, they slap coming over the big bridge!!
I will be spidering and cranking with them. Or at I hope they can be dual purpose rods.
Their a good all around pole I have used them for spider rigging, long lining, pulling cranks and pushing cranks. Now I just use them for longlining and pulling cranks for crappie and walleye. Grizzly jig will have any rod you want, but for sure check out Monk's they always had the best price on purchasing a set of BnM poles.
