Dardanelle ????
Has anyone heard any reports from the Piney Bay chute or strip pit areas on Dardanelle? I went by the boat ramps at Piney Chute and Ouita and they were covered with boat trailers. I thought the fish might have started biting... water was pretty stained looking though.

Why don't you go and give us a report ?
-
I am going to say all bass fishermen. Crappie bite was dead last visit for me. Do what Nimrod said and report back. I will be looking for a post from you with information.
-
There ain't any crappie in Dardanelle anyways!
-
Let me know how ya do. Thanks.

The bass out of there should eat pretty good.

Bass tournaments don't hurt Crappie fishing but can cause Crappie fishermen to hate being rocked all day. :twocents Had some of my best trips last summer in the middle of a big Bass Tournament on that lake. Enjoyed talking to those Bass Pros while Crappie fishing brushpiles. Most were courteous and a few were complete a-- holes , but then that is not just because they were Bass fishermen.

I will be glad to give a report if I get a chance to go. Kids are in from out of state and various colleges for Christmas - along with my first and only Grandson !! So, I will be playing "Pappy" instead of fishing while he is here. Son that is home from college loves to duck hunt and is wanting me to take him. Sooo, it may be January before I can go, but I will post when I do.

I might try and get out there tomorrow if everything goes right. If not it will be early next week before I can go. I've heard mixed reports so I honestly can't give you any info.

Someone told my Dad a couple weeks ago that they had been catching big Crappie in a creek near the state park. I assume Mill Creek. I wouldn't expect them to be there this late in the year but it has been mild so maybe the shad haven't gone deep? This is second hand so take it for what its worth :)

Just left the Shute. Caught a few small ones but it was bad slow. There were about 10 boats up thru there and everyone had the same story. We longlined, spidered, tried minnows below shad balls and jigged some brush but had fun hunting them.

Thanks for that report, Slab Dave. Maybe it will get better.

I don't know what is goin on around here.. a couple of years ago it was easy to catch a limit of big fat ones in the Piney chute or the strip pits---or Lake Atkins during this time of year.. This year nothing is happening. Lets keep reporting until they start biting !! Happy New Year and I hope you all catch a bunch in 2015

A buddy that lives on piney bay has been fishing the chute says he can see the fish stacked in the bait fish about 20 ft but he so far has had little success getting them to bite. Not a normal year for him .
-
Biologist told me numbers were down at Atkins and Dardenelle was bad about Crappie populations being cyclic. We may have seen the hay days for a year or two. Temps are warmer than usual this winter , it could change with cooler weather.

fished there on sunday , caught several crappie and catfish but most of the crappie were small , think its just about spending time over there and fishing different areas until you can put together a pattern, its seems to be another off year but may just need to fish it different than past years

With 35,000 Acers, 50 miles long and 315 miles of shoreline...there is always a bite going on... on Dardanelle. Just got to find Em.
