I have never fished Cumberland in the winter. If a man was to go, where would you start?
Main lake or up the creeks?
I don't want any particular spots, just a good starting point.
I I would greatly appreciate it.

I'd go for the creeks, never had any luck what so ever on main lake with crappie.
look for any structure midway up the creek arms. Good electronics are needed to find them this time of year. Sometimes they are 2 foot deep and sometimes they are 30 foot deep in the same brush
Thank you.
Ive been fishing Dale Hollow with little success. Catching one here or there.
Im whooped!
i'll give cumberland a try maybe next week and I'll post report. Once again, thanks
If you do post a report ... tell us what you used, how deep, and what method you were using ... nothing else on here. No sense in telling the whole world "where" you caught them. Pics are nice, but don't take them with the shoreline in the background.
... luck2ya & have a safe & prosperous trip !!

Pappy, I'm not sure how to post pictures on here but don't worry. My grandfather taught me real good how to protect the honey holes. I'll probably go after Christmas.
Im learning more every trip about the SS hds7. I can see fish at Dale but only pick up a couple from a spot. Strictly aggravating to say the least. I can catch them trolling in summer/fall but when I see fish 40' deep , they are tough to catch.
Ive heard White Oak and Faubush is active. Maybe I can get up there and find something worth sharing. But no spots!haha
There are several ways to post pics, and they all depend on where the pics are stored as to how you get them on here.
You can post them from your phone -- from your computer files -- or from a online hosting site.
Can't help you if posting direct from your phone ... but, I'd be happy to tell you how to post from either of the other two.

Attachment 182597 These are some we caught trolling in late summer at dale.
Whoa that was too easy! The picture upload anyway. It took all day to get these. That was the best day by far we've ever had at Dale. A lot of days could only manage 5-10.
Cool !! Glad you've got the pic posting down.
What were you "trolling" on Dale ?? I ask because it looks like most of those fish are Black Crappie, and it seems they aren't as susceptible to cranks as the Whites are.

All are black or black nosed. Yes it was cranks. Some I painted. The blacks are harder to come by than whites with crankbaits. Funny that I've never caught a white from Dale.
I've been catching good fish at Lake Cumberland the last few weeks. It seems the colder the weather, the better. I fished this past Friday morning from 7 to about 10:30 and had 16 really good fish and several throwbacks. All of my good fish came from 24 to 30 ft on Bobby Garland bright green (sorry, I can't remember the name) jigs tipped with Gewbers. I was one-poling deep brush piles and old trees in a creek in 26 to 36 ft of water.
