The 997 can only use the Interlink module to share waypoints ... no sonar or map sharing ...
They are discontinued ..but they pop up occassionally in the classifieds ...
Rickie
Thanks Rickie I will keep my eyes on the classifieds.
I know someone that has an interlink box and one of the wires if you would be interested. Let me know and I'll contact him and put you two in touch.
I don't think the 859 can use the interlink ..... Not 100% sure though.
I'm not sure either BobB. I'm new to all of things that the depth finders can do. So any info anyone can give me I would appreciate a lot. Thanks guys
Interlink was the comm link with the 997, but the interlink support is being abandoned by Humminbird on the newer units. Internet is what the new units use.
You've got a couple of units that are 2 generations apart....97, then 98/58, now 99/59. 97's except the 1197 were interlink only, the 98's could go either way up to a certain software release....I'm pretty sure the 859 is Ethernet only.
I have seen some used 998's for sale lately....That would have been the way to go.
If Greg checks in he will be able to verify this....Or maybe some of the other guys will know.
Thanks BobB. I got a really good deal on this unit is only reason I bought it. I guess I will just have to look at the coordinates on the 997 and mark it on front when I find it again
You could always transfer waypoints via SD card too
Bob is correct (I missed the other unit was xx9 model)...
Interlink will only work thru the xx8 series units ...
Sorry guys ...
Rickie
As Bob also mentioned ... Exporting the waypoints to SD Card may be your best option ...
I would run the exported waypoints HBPC and rename them before importing into the other unit ...(Or rename them on the unit before exporting to SD Card)...
Duplicate waypoint names have been known to cause some hiccups in the past ...
Rickie
Thanks guys for all the info
Sorry guys, I've been tied up with new Employee training and some medical appointments...
BobB and Rickie are right about this.
