Thumpin good day on the water

Today I met up with Jerry (ski trip) on the water. We both had our own boats but fished close enough to visit a little while catching a few Crappie. I caught quite a few and actually caught 40 keepers , some dinks , Whites and some Green Carp (LM Bass). Caught my fish on NIMROD SPECIALS ( Southern Pro 2'' Umbrella tubes in Purple/ Chartreuse on 1/8 oz round lead head inserted ). Great day weather wise also for December. We both left the water with limits . Good day when you can cull what normally would be keepers many days. Thanks Jerry for taking pictures of my fish at the ramp.

Counter shows only Crappie not the trash fish . You can get one of those counters from Southern Pro . Great gadget as you can count fish with your foot with it sitting on the deck.

Alot of guys call Whites ,Hybrids , Yellow Bass , Black Bass , and anything but Crappie trash fish. I release them most times or give them to folks that are not as picky. I give most of my fish away that I keep , Crappie or whatever. I know some guys that will not keep anything but a Crappie.

Happens more often than not on right spot , right bait and the right presentation. The three R's of fishing !:twocents I don't buy into the thousand different baits and countless modifications . Stay with what works for me and that is Southern Pro Tubes year round , day in and day out !:biggrin

I remember last year when ya fished the pool twice and didn't limit with them big tubes. Remember there was a lot of drums caught on em though he he he [emoji12]. I don't buy into that one way and bait always work %100 of the time on every body of water. We just have to agree to disagree lol.

sometimes change makes a difference, but using what you have confidence in is a big part of it as well !

I fished the pool last year with small tubes and minners and didn't catch nothing but a real nice bait casting rod and reel. If I would have been using large tubes, I may have caught a real nice Ozark rod or something. Never really figured out the pattern on the rod and reel bite that day and only caught the one.

I never been there and depthfinder was not working. Most I saw were not catching either even using minnows.
I catch higher percentage here with big tubes on a jig pole than a arrow slinging guy we know dragging 16 minnows . :popcorn
I'm sure if I put in my time I could figure out a pattern , I hate fishing a crowded little pool where you can walk across the boats.

Ok, perfectly fine with jig fishing. Kinda prefer it. And most everyone that knows me and Excell knows we prefer it. So yeah I'm ready when you are.

I was there with my little girl that day. The bite was slow but the bigguns were biting!! Typical Pool fishing after three months of cold water and hard pressure.Attachment 181357Attachment 181358Nimrod, try it again, it is worth it when you figure it out. No sir, I was using Midsouth tubes tipped with a nibble. I was not sitting on brush either, just dragging two jigs around real slow. You dont need electronics to find brush in the Pool. One good cast in any direction will locate you one!! As I said, the key is slow.

That's true there Cmj.

Just a point trying to make one way and one method not always produce. Fishing in crowd and no electronics seems like an excuse for not catching fish.

Can't make you think anything different but still gonna try and maybe one day you will come around.

I was pretty dead set on jigs only too in the past. But I opened my mind up to the possibility other things were and can work better at times.

No doubt you can catch fish at the pirrana hole as meathead says. We are trying to Persuade you to change!! Heck I should encourage it to keep all these other new folks from catching fish. I say one bait and one method will not always produce fish in every body of water.

Confidence is a major part of catching fish and you have a lot of confidence in your way which goes a long way!

I don't think Dustin and kelly you will ever get nimrod to fish a tournament lol. I can tell you fishing them made me a better fisherman last year. I learned a lot even if it was what not to do!!

I agree 100% that fishing more than 1 way will payoff! Fish want something a little diff on each lake and time of the year and sometimes ever few hours. But I encourage everyone to come fish a few tournaments. I promise if u come with the mind set to pay attention and learn something u will! I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge going to diff lakes around and competing with the best fishermen around. Don't be scared to get beat because when it comes down to it it is fishing u never know what's gonna happen.

Great Catch Guys. Will you guys stop trying to get CA to enter a tourney, he might just enter and win and will never hear the end of it. HAHA!!! I know Nimrod has allot of spots marked out there on his home lake and I do think he would give us a run for his money even vertical jigging vs spider rigging. I would be interested to see how an experienced vertical jigger on lake Nimrod would stack up against some who don't fish the lake as much spider rigging. Maybe one day he will give us that opportunity. Pretty Good four fish hold there CA.

My money will be on nimrod don't care how u fish !!!!!
