So I've settled on installing hyd. Steering since my cables are shot. Anybody have an idea on what length hoses I need on my 18ft ranger?

Go over to BBC in the Ranger forum and you will get plenty of info, would love to do that myself. My cables are good nut my ole Merc sho does torque a lot, dang near run over John Mayo up at Enid one day trying to grab something and she turned hard right.
Probably the best bet
Mine is not adjustable, been this way since it was new in 1984. Prop makes a little difference, hull does not, been on 4 hulls over the years. up and down really don't seem to help either, it just torques, as long as you hold on its no big deal, 2 hands to turn at 5700rpms tho!!!!:biggrin
Keep us posted, would like to do mine but will most likely wait till the cables star giving me trouble.
Will do should have it ordered this week and will tear I to it the week of Christmas.
Hoses should be the same length as your cables.
I like Uflex for a single engine 150 up. I like the SeaStar also, but it's more pricey. The Teleflex SeaStar is a must for multiple engine hookups.
I only have one engine :) tks on the length--I was thinking that was the case but wasn't 100%
The Baystar is rated up to 150hp, but the Uflex is rated for 150 and up. Go Uflex if ya don't go with the pricier SeaStar.
Nice thing about hydraulic hoses is they are flexible. If ya get them a foot to long you can hide it. [emoji4]
Yeah you are correct--we'll see what I can get the best price on and go from there.
Will do
going with Uflex Hyco-1 now to figure out what length hoses I need.
Well this hyd steering is going to add about 20 pounds to the weight of the boat. The dern helm feels like a cinder block lol
