Rabbit Hair Jigs
https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...6108da69fa513aRabbit hairs I tied last night. Rabbit zonker tails and rabbit cross cut bodies with some flash. They are 1/8 and 1/16oz heads with #4 hooks. Some of the collars are mini-flat braid which also gives them some extra flash.

Thems' beautiful. I really like how they flair out. Pink and white is my go to color everyday any water. Nice and thanks for sharing your artwork! Did you cut the hair off the hide or am I not seeing right? Sure would be nice to show everyone how you tied these including me and what the heck is mini braid. You know I have to ask 20 questions.

Top right and bottom left are SMOKIN!! Real nice work.

Here's a video showing how they tie a cross-cut rabbit strip for a steelhead jig but it's basically the same way for a crappie jig. Once you get used to using them it goes really quick and you can crank them out.

I started cutting my own strips from Hairline's assorted pieces pack (trim pieces) - Here's a thread I did when I had them cut

I think of mini braid as Metallic Thread, you can get expensive stuff or check at JoAnnes fabrics they also have it.

Thanks for all your comments. The cross cut rabbit is put on just like the video of the steelhead jig that Fatman posted above. You can and I have cut it off the hide and made a dubbing loop and wrapped it that way also. Easiest thou leaving on hide like in video. The tail is a different cut called a zonker. The hair in this case flows down or behind. It is tied in first and the cross cut next. Notice in the video there is no tail per say. The collars are Lagartun Mini Flat Braid I get from The Caddis Shop on line. It is somewhat expensive But as you know Buddy I do not mass produce or sell my jigs. I just like to work with all the various materials out there and see what I can create. You or any body is welcome to stop by anytime and I will be happy to show you how I do it. Thanks for reading.

I tie it much like you do and even on some Roadrunners, but for them I am mostly I like just crosscut for that head. I do have a question about the Flat Braid, I have never used or bought any of that so how are you using it? I mean did you first finish with thread and then just wrap the collar area with the flat Braid and glue it on or what? Also do you think it makes a difference to the fish?
Thanks,

Nice looking jigs :ThumbsUp
I like the braid as it can add some nice flash.

Skip I tie all the hair with with 210 denier thread. When I finish off securing the cross cut and making the collar I whip finish the thread. I then tie in the flat mini braid with clear mono thread, wrap the braid to cover the collar and tie off with the mono thread. The clear mono allows the braid to show threw and just makes a neat finishing touch. Do I think it makes a difference to the fish? Probably not but it does increase my confidence and that in turn makes me a better fisherman I think.

Sure, confidence is the number one most important part of fishing. Mono does go all the way clear with a little glue and will let color show through which is nice. I know a fly tyer that uses mono most all the time and that is just one of his reasons. I do like the idea and may tinker with it some.
Thanks for the info!
