Which one is best for inline spinners? I am looking to order a wire forming tool to use instead of the round nose pliers I currently use. Suggestion on which brand?

I really really like mine. Only draw back on it is it bends a fairly good size circle for tying the leader to.

Man them is very nice lookin. My father-in-law had some that looked like that. Might try Jans net craft.
The large eye is the only knock I have seen on the Twist tech. Anyone know of a former that make smaller loops? And yes I own and use round nose pliers. Tired of sore fingers after making a few dozen at a time.
I have the old Netcraft wire former but it makes a large eye like Q's, Also costs more than what I paid for mine back in the 80's. I also have the Worth hand former

Like the looks of the Twist Tech but would like to see every bend it can make - haven't seen if it can make wire coils. Would Like a Hagens but don't want to spend that much money!!
Has anyone used the hagens?
following
I ordered a Hagens today with my annual cyber Monday sales order to Lure Parts Online. 10% off and free shipping! ;) (no affiliation btw, But they sure have great service and the best prices I have found on tackle making parts).
It comes with a 1/8" and 3/16" post and smaller ones can be ordered. I will post up some pics as I have a little time to play with it.
Like to see all the different bends it can make once you get it. The video of it only shows those used for making an in-line spinner.
Lets see what ya got!! So far on all the new ones I haven't seen one yet that will make the coiled wire closers

I think maybe I have a Hagens, but I am not a good person to ask much of as I have not used it enough to be very good at it. I still have my troubles!
They are not much to look at and to be honest I really have not played with them very much. I need to set some time to the side to do that.

I've made salmon spinners for many years and I did have a fancy wire bending tool I thought it was more trouble than what it was worth so I use a simple jewelers pliers and that's what we use now today I've enclosed a picture you can go to any craft store and pick them up.

The one on the left is like mine but I've never seen one with that type of head on the one on the right!! Very interesting!!
I have a couple of sets of those pliers. I think I bought them at Michael's Craft store. If you look on the web you can get a 40% or 50% off coupon for a single item. Look in the bead making supplies for the pliers.
Here is a better picture of the one on the right hand side Fatman.

I believe they are both made by Lakeland.

2 wire functions on 2 different tools I'd hate to have to switch back and forth.
I have a twistech and really like it it will make a great looking loop in a hurry, like was mentioned i wish i would make the loops a bit smaller but overall i'm pleased.
It came in today! I twisted up a few to try and it does a very nice job. It is heavy duty that is for sure. Very well made. It has numerous parts that can be swapped out and modified to fit smaller or larger lures. So far I am very pleased. I will order the small head kit. The ID of the loop is 1/8" which is a little more that I need for making articulating spines for fly's. Also the distance between the clevis and the finished eye could be a little closer. It is a little long for my taste but there again there is a part or two that could be easily modified to accommodate a shorter wire. This seem so be perfect for my needs.
Here is a pic of the bender with a 12 oz bottle in the background for reference. The second is a .2 oz little number that as I said could be a little shorter. I could use a worm weight which would be shorter and shorten the distance between the clevis and the eye loop. This is a #3 blade with a #2 clevis. The hook is a round bend VMC # 4. Wire is .031". Swivel # 12.

I have a hagens and I like it I used it to make bama rigs
Worth makes a coil bender
that's pretty good - you don't want the space too tight between the clevis and the eyelet you want the blade to spin smoothly. I don't use the crane swivels on mine and use a small cross lock snap for ease in changing baits, don't have to retie as often.
I like that set up. Can you please send me a link so I can take a look at the ad please?
Thanks,
Bobo
That is the same one I have!
Here is a link to Hagen's Wire Forming tool...
Hagen's Fishing Components - Products > Tools > Industrial Tools > Wire Forming Tool
Here are a few of the ones I have made. Took a few tries to get the hang of it. I have everything adjusted now to keep them as compact as possible without modifying anything. The distance from the outside of the loop to the clevis (or anything else you may want on the wire) is 1/2". The loop and one full wrap around the standing wire is 5/16". The space needed of the tool to function without collapsing the clevis is then 3/16" for a total of 1/2". Here also is a spring form that I threw together. It could be made better but this was just a quickie for show and tell. I believe a haywire type twist is also doable with this tool which would put the two arms of the spring type spinner coming off at equal angles if that makes sense?

Nice work with the spinners.
It's a nice tool but it can't do all the bends I use and I can buy a lot of components for the cost of it and the smaller eyelet piece. Not if anyone just wants to send me one I wouldn't turn it down!!!LOL
Bo - with all the packages you send out and get in I doubt she'd notice it!!! (Yeah Right!!!!! LMAO)
When we picked up the grand daughter last summer I stopped by Orvis and my wife was getting a suitcase for my sister in law to use and the bag of stuff I'd bought was still inside of it!!!!!! Thought I'd put it away!!!LOL Talk about CRS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have worked with the hand former and a pair of pointed pliers for a few years. Just placed an order for the twistech tool late night. Think with it and the other tools I will be able to make anything I need or want to make.
Great looking setup and spinner....where did you find the tubing on the hook?i'm wanting to try that for color.
There are 2 sizes of tubing used in tying tube flies and the large size would probably be perfect for that bugman! It comes in some nice colors too! Let me find you a link to see.....
Only reason I picked HMH for this is because they were one of the first to sell a vise for tube flies and I have bought tubing from them before.
look under this on this page.....
New and Improved HMH Hook Holder Tubing
HMH Vises | Fly Tying Vises, Tube Fly Vises, Accessories
You can also get tubing here that will fit over all size trebles. But I do like that purple that HMH has!!
Plastic Tubing, Fishng Lure Dressing
All components in the pic came from lurepartsonline.com
Thanks Skip and Fm it's nice to have fellas with years of experience and knowledge of our passion to help us along....i really appreciate it.
Your welcome bugman and you have been at this for a good while too and have only heard good things.
I have one more I just learned about and need to see if it's good for this or not. Will get back if it looks good. Well I looked and there is a limited number of colors and some colors only sold by the roll and the size you would probably want is 250 feet long, LOL! However if your color is Yellow they have some Translucent and sold in 10 foot lengths minimum, but standard size is 50 foot long. I doubt this will be what anyone is looming for unless they plan on making a lot of stuff to use it on. However if any of this interest anyone PM me and I can get a link.
Oh and this stuff resist cracking, swelling or embrittlement and UV Resistant.

A bit too much for me at this stage but someday who knows......my main colors would be char, white, yellow, pink and black. The only reason I want it is I'm too darn lazy/impatient to tie like you fellers do
Glad to help when I can, but I've also learned a lot here too.
Really the only one that makes any sense is the yellow one which seems they make it more for gas containers and that is the o LY one they sell in 10' lengths and the entire roll is 50'. I will get a link.
Here it is and I am talking about the top 2 Yellow ones. Example you can buy a 25' long roll for like under a dollar per foot.
Oops... There Is a Problem
Even thought the link says Oops, it should still work, LOL! It's U.S. Plastic Corp.
