Took a couple hours but it cuts the sound down to a 1/4 what it was. Saw some plans online and it was easy and many had done it without harming the generator. I do have a little more vents than the others but I was being careful not to burn it up. It's on the 2nd our of the 3 hour breakin. Works good. Ran it for. 2 hours and stuck my hand in there to check the box temp. Nice n cool
Very good with the ground rod you have. No such thing as being too safe.
You need a 4 footer? All the had was a 8 footer n I cut it in half with my hack saw
Uh, DD, the ground rod needs to actually be "in" the ground.

Looks like a fine way to cut down on the noise. I would have though about adding the material that is used to sound proof the inside of engine compartments on I/O compartments to the inside of the box. I believe it might cut your noise level down even more.
Rods 2 feet in the ground. Tried to find sound board but had to get the best I could find at lowes

Btw ATM. See figure 1 that you posted. That's what I have. Had some leftover 4 gauge wire from rewiring my batteries and used that to make a ground wire. Used a battery cable alligator clamp to secure to copper rod and proper ca me end to the generator. No shortcuts sunshine.
They're sold in 8' lengths for a reason. And it's not so you'll have something to hold onto while you cut it in half.
Well.....The operators manual that came with the generator said.....Drive ground rod in ground 2 feet.

What G said. May try that later on Ted but this works pretty good. Me n blue eyes were standing next to it talking and didn't have to strain to hear each other. That's pretty good
