Does it have a black nose? Just can't see it if it's there.
I've heard of them being called "magnolia" crappie. The stripe is the identifier. Supposed to be a black/white hybrid and not able to spawn.
Take me it for what it's worth...
Yes, there are Magnolia Crappie ... but I don't know how far their distribution goes. :dono
Here's a thread from last year, from a member from NE, relating a catch of "white" Crappie with black stripes ... but, no pictures to back up the claim. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/main-...-stripe-2.html

Yep, it's a Magnolia Black Nose Crappie. I wasnt aware of any in Tennessee, but who knows?
Sterile crappie much better for ponds - Mississippi Sportsman
Seen lots of Blacknose but no hybrids . Cool
Which lake did that come from Fishawk? That's Definitely something I will have to keep on the look out for in the future. Thanks for sharing.
Don't matter how they dress as long as they taste like crappie.
Not necessarily .... could be a naturally occurring crossbreed. See the pictures from Action Fishing Trips .com : CRAPPIE

Here's a Black Black Nose out of Lake Talquin in Florida

BigKyd & liftbite56 ..... are you guys talking about the same fish as pictured by the author of this thread ??
Commonly known as "Arkansas Blacknose" ... Black Crappie with stripe
Commonly known as "Magnolia Crappie" ... sterile triploid hybrid (White Crappie side pigmentation with black stripe)
Hybrid Crappie ... naturally occurring cross between a Black Crappie, or a Blacknose Black Crappie, with a White Crappie. (side pigmentation may be hard to distinguish between looking like a White Crappie's saddle stripes or a Black Crappie's speckles) Blacknose/White Crappie cross may or may not have stripe down back/nose, even though the stripe pigmentation gene is a dominant gene.
No disrespect intended, but ....
"liftbite56" -
I believe there are Ark. Blacknose in Weiss ... but doubt they'd stock Magnolia Crappie.
"BigKyd" -
I know TWRA stocks Blacknose, but unless those two lakes mentioned are very small, there'd be little point in stocking a sterile fish.
