I think the pass works either at LP or CB docks, but does not give access to the locked areas.
Ok thank you. So how do you get access to the locked areas, was up last weekend and it was open so I fished it but want to be able to fish anytime
You'll have to rent a slip to fish the private docks.
Well that sucks, fished with a few old timers last weekend that I doubt had a slip, wondering how they got the code to get in... Anyone need me to check on there boat for them this weekend?
I used to have a slip at Paradise Point. I can tell you from my passed experience I ran off more people who didn't own slips out there when I did. " My buddy has a slip out here" doesn't cut it if you are not with the slip holder. First place its expensive to rent a slip at Smithville. Mine was over 1700 bucks a year. Slip holders will run you off if they find you inside the locked area unless you are with a slip holder. Most of the old guys who fish the boat slips either have family or good friends who rent slips there, and are with them or on the slip lease.I fish the public dock 25 bucks for an annual pass gets you access to both Marinas. I got some nice fish Thursday morning. Lots of shorts and enough keepers for a good lunch. I did run into the Ranger quite a nice fella, but he does keep an eye on the locked area.
Are the waters around the "locked" areas accessible by water/boat? I honestly haven't checked the dock crappie fishing yet at Smithville.
Sure! You can fish the marinas with a boat.
It is for sure not appreciated if folks are in there that are not supposed to be. $1500 is a lot of money to let someone come in there that has no money invested in it. Just sayin
Yeah- I would play by the rules- otherwise they might shut the fishing down totally, the way some places do.
BTW- what is the policy for boaters and the dock? I spoke with a man who was fishing from the secure dock area and he said you are allowed to go into a slip with your boat, but cannot get out of the boat. I didn't see any signs to that effect, but it makes sense that the dock is private property, but the water within the slip is fair game. I didn't know how stringent they were about this though, in case I were to get hung up and need to get out of the boat. I had a good day at paradise Pont today- everyone I ran across was super nice.
I'm sure if you needed to retrieve a rig you wouldn't have a problem as long as you were not fishing from the docks.
