I bought a Club Car that is a 48V cart, 6 of the 8 volt batteries. Prolly crazy for doing this, but I did it anyway. I could use some help in locating batteries at a reasonable price. Thx in advance..

These folks are the ones that carry the cart batts like a lot of have been running in our boats. Ask about blems, some times they have them.
E-Z check Sam's. When I was looking at them they seemed to have comparable pricing and decent warranty. Like Ree's said if you can fain day battery store sometimes they will have blems with pretty good discounts.
I got a really good price on a 12v battery for my son's Powerwheels jeep from these guys.
Powertron Battery Co. - Santa Ana, CA - Welcome
We used to get one year old batts from Bobb Ladd in Memphis. There is an EZ GO dealer in pearl that might have some take outs
How do you tell if it's an 8 volt battery? I was at Sam's today, I saw 6 and 12 volt golf cart batteries.
Thanks everyone for your help. I've checked with everyone I can think of as well as these suggestions. I'm just not ready to spend that kinda $ right now. I'm waiting on some seconds or slightly used ones, and I'll keep checking back for those.
normally, on wet cell batteries they have two volts per cell. 3 cells=6 volts, 4 cells= 8, etc..
Battery Sales and Service has them new for 157 if you pick em up with a core. That ain't much for the best battery you can get. I sell em for 200 installed. You want the US Battery 12v golf cart battery.
Even at my retail price, they are MUCH better than the Optima or the Trojan, and at least 50-75 bux less PER BATTERY.
Oh yeah, at my price, I will deliver and install. [emoji4]
OK...Somebody explain to me why you would use golf cart batteries in your boat. I am not questioning that it is a good idea. I just want to understand what the benefits are. Size? Price? Charge time? Power?
Gimme the lowdown, John! Or BRM. Or E-Z.
Somebody? Anybody?
The reason I use the U.S. battery 12v is because they have the largest amount of reserve power. 292 minutes at 25 amps. I am no expert, but I've had better luck with these holding up longer than any of the rest, and I've used them all.

Main reason is cause you gonna get tired before they do, I have only killed mine once. That was last summer when No and I fished Nader and nothing was happening so we loaded up and went to Enid. Not sure how many hours we were pulling but it was a long day that we managed to salvage at Enid. A lot of times I do just like I did this morning, unload and drop the troller and head out. Catch a good many fish around boat ramps.

Who took you out to your boat :Rofl:Rofl

Back to your original question since everyone is talking about 12V batteries, I have thought about the same thing as you since I bought my Cushman cart. 72V system running nine 8V batteries. The dealer I bought it from has plenty of 8V "seconds" for those that don't want to buy new. Check with the cart dealers. Love my cart and am glad I got it.
Yep.....You could just run 6, 12 volt cart batteries and you would have your 72 volts. On E-Z's cart....he could run just 4, 12 volt cart batteries and get his 48 volts. I am no expert but I think that would work unless there is a advantage using a larger number of batteries in 8 volt...only thing I can think of is maybe you would have more reserve amp hrs that way which would mean a longer run time.
Okay, makes sense why they are running the 8V batteries. Tremendous run time on my Cushman even under heavy loads.
If you change the battery pack from 8 volt to a 12 volt pack, be sure to change or program the charger. Most of the late model chargers are programmable to the pack.
