Lil bit came and got me up early this morning for the youth hunt. She was excited for sure. I was still trying to wake up with my morning coffee while we drove to the woods. It was a cold crisp morning with a good north breeze. Attachment 178059
We walked out usual walk to one of our favorite stands to hunt. We watched as the woods came to life with the birds chirping and the squirrels playing chase. Attachment 178061It was pretty uneventful until we decided to pack it up for the morning. I take one last look and low and behold a big nanny stepped out. We scrambled like a fire drill as lil bit spun around and I reloaded her gun. It wasn't meant to be as the Ol slick head busted us.
A quick mid day nap and we were back out to the deer woods. On the way to another stand lil bit saw a deer in the woods road and she went into stealth mode. I never had to say anything as she knelt downto her knees and perched her gun on the shooting sticks. We realized it was a spike so we let it walk off. Up into the stand we got and settled in for the afternoon. About 5pm the woods came alive as a doe came by. Attachment 178063Lil bit was the first to see it and went into action with her .243. The gun barked and the doe dropped in her tracks. We sat there for about 20 minutes and another doe came out and I videod this one as she let her .243 bark again. We were both high fiving and whispering as we were elated with the action. Another 20 minutes go by and a nice buck stepped out. She go excited as I could here her breathing deep and fast. She asked if she could shoot it and I gave the go ahead. The .243 barked for the third time. Attachment 178065The deer jumped and didn't react like it was hit. I think buck fever set in on her lol. Was a fun and exciting evening and memories were made. Take a kid hunting or fishing when you can! Attachment 178066
