I got a deal on a keel guard for my boat
And will install myself. I have been reading about these & I have read a couple or so folks that also put some of the 3m 5200 marine adhesive along the edge of the keel guard. Has anyone here installed one and if so did u add the 3m product ? It will be awhile before I install, maybe even spring since I read that the surface of the boat needs to be at 70 degrees or above.
thanks in advance

GDG and myself have helped installed several. Nothing to it. Chose a warm day, clean the surface, scuff it with the included pad. Then start at the highest point, just below the eye bolt and work your way down a few inches at a time. Keep it centered on the keel and use a rubber hammer to "set" it.

Keel Guard recommends a product from West Systems called Six10 to adhere the keel guard to your boat if it comes loose. Should work well for an initial install also.
I've used it, and it does work!!!

Larry, you can watch the installation video from the Keel Guard on You Tube. It's the same video that comes in the package with the guard.
Read my post above about the Six10.
This will be one of my FEW informative posts. Enjoy!!! [emoji12]

I've installed quite a few and never had that happen. I've only had to repair one that barely came loose on the rear end of it. It actually was scraped hard on a concrete ramp.

Wonder if u can spray a bed liner material under your boat. That stuff sticks good
Liner on the hull will add a lot of drag in the water.
May be a plumbing issue such as live well overflowing, through hull leaking, bow eye loose, lower bolts on engine mount need to be resealed, lots of things. Oh yeah, it might have a hole in it. If it does have a hole, you might try filling it up with water and see if it leaks out underneath. Usually not enough water pressure to make em leak this way tho unless the hole is large enough.
