Questions about deck boats?

I would like to ask for all of your opinions about deck boats. I know nothing about them but have an interest in them. I saw one that was rigged up for crappie fishing and thought it may be neat to have one with all the grand kids that are becoming of age to fish. Do they sway with the breeze and light wind while anchored? Are they stable and not tilt when weight is more on one side than the other? Can they be anchored easily? I know I would never use it trolling but was just wondering what it would be like to have one. I am not going to buy one to find out all these things on my own. I just need to know if you guys have one or if you have had experience with one.:dono

imo they be bout like a regular boat with pontoon floor == plusses? faster on water and maybe easier to pull on road

minus probably not as stable as regular toon on water other ??? somebody else may answer :twocents

I always thought like Remus that they had all the room of a Pontoon but planed off and ran better over the water than a pontoon. With the right trolling motor they should be great for trolling as well. Only reason I don't have one is I can't afford one, least ways the ones I've seen for sale.

They are not cheap are they. I saw an older one that had rod holders on both sides and on the front. It looked pretty darn good. I believe it was a 1995 model. I appreciate your replies and will think about it a lot. If you run up on one for sale cheap let me know. Only if you would have though. LOL!

CHEAP !!! Dont be skeered to spend some of that money you suckin off the county. Get US a new one.

If you just want a faster boat then buy a bigger motor for a Toon. My 22' toon will do 24mph with a 90HP 4 stroke. Of course I've never hooked a fish at that speed.

I would rather have a pontoon. I had a deck boat(older one), didn't care for it, it was way too heavy. I like my toon, much cheaper and better to fish from and a lot easier to modify to my own needs. JMHO

I could probably see myself in one of them swivel chairs. But only if ya put seatbelts on em. Old people fall off things easy. Aint that right Remus ! :Rofl

I just sold one. They are very stable and don't tilt if you even stand on the edge. I had a powerdrive V1 64lb thrust and used it to troll and it did fine. It was nice because there is a lot of room. They are heavy though. They are better for pulling kids than a pontoon and they anchor like a normal boat. Wind doesn't blow it around anymore than any other fiberglass boat. Mine had a round rail which was nice to mount my driftmasters so I didn't have to put any holes in the boat. Any questions feel free to pm me

Thanks for the information that's what I need to hear. I have 6 grand kids and out of them 2 can fish without help, 1 can but don't have patients to sit long. The other 3 are still to young to be left alone and trusted. So if I were to have something big enough to hold everyone at one time I could take them fishing with help of course. I will check out the computer and research as much as possible. I appreciate your reply's it's all good info. This is what I need in the future if I am persuaded in that direction. I checked CL there are some what seems to be pretty good deals on a few different deck boats in the columbia area..........
