Thinking about buying new rods. Was wondering if anyone uses a 14' pole to long line? Thinking about going 14' 12' 10' and 8' out each side of the boat. Just thinking out loud. Any recommendations on brand.

I'm going to pick up some 14s this year myself. Have 12, 10, 9, & 8s. Have seen some folks that even use 16s! The Pro rod from B&M is what I'm looking at.
Southern Crappie rods.
Whats the price on those? Wanting to set up to spider rig in the spring

Best rods I have used for the money and tough as nails.
I use 14 ft rods off the front when long lining. I use BNM BGJP's because I already have them. They work fine for me. I would like to try the Southern rods.
I use two 12s and a 10 out of the front. I live on Weiss and do the majority of my fishing there. On Weiss there is a three pole limit so that set up works pretty good. I have fished 14, 12 ,10 on both sides at Guntersville. Works good until it gets windy. Then the long pole sometimes gets aggrevating. Also there are so many big green carp at Gville too many poles bring massive line tangles when you hook one. Rees says 14s good so go with it. Them Miss. boys are Crappie feeshermen!
B-n-M and hi-tech holder for me. I got 16 12 and 8 in the front
For long lining, I use 16, 12, 8 and 5.5. The three longer ones are BnM BGJP and the shorter two are Ugly Stix. All going out the back of the boat on Hi-Tech Rod Holders.
BnM pro staffers are good for my partner and I .The best price I have found for them are at Monks crappie.I do know the longer the more you have to learn how to handle them!!!
To me, the B&M Pro Staff are about right for longlining. The BGJP are just a little to limber for me especially if I am having to land the fish by myself. I typically will run 4 rods off the front and I typically use 18 and 14'. Then we will run 4 off the back, 12' and 8'. Occasionaly we will use and extra 2 on the front or back or both but normally do not need too.
I run the B-n-M PST's in 16', 14', 12', & 8' off the front. Like Callshy, the PST's have just the right amount of backbone, especially the longer rods, when having to land them solo. The PST's serve me for all needs, long lining jigs, dragging cranks, and spider rigging. Best cost I have found is Monks in NC.
I use Wally Marshall rods because of price, just starting out I needed to maintain a budget, I have a Ranger set up to pull out Back and front ( sides) @ Weiss when it's just me I use 14' ,12', 10' . When Back home on Allatoona I use the same set up but on both sides! My personnel study when I have a partner, the man in the back always catches more when long trolling, something to the turbulence from big motor? Rod holders maybe as important as the rods, hi tech holders get my vote.
