I have the American Angler electric also that I still use use on panfish. The Bubba Blade works really well on larger fish (I have the 9" stiffy). The grip is really nice and it holds an edge very well. I would highly recommend one to anyone!
Been eyeing the newer 9" tapered flex, but keep choking on the price. Keepin on with the Rapala, really dont see s need to change for now.
I have tried it and the bubba blade is not for me. Much easier with electric knife.
Electric...never go back!
Electric is better for crappie. Though, bubba blade is better for stripers and saltwater species.

Been usin a Cutco adjustable fillet knife for years...have one for cleanin bigger animals and small ones
Sharpen it about once or twice a year....I'd prolly hack it up with an electric one:hatchet:
I just can't make myself use anything else other than American Angler.
Rapala electric is what I use and would never go back to the old manual knife.
American Angler is still best electric have ever used.
Have had it about 6 yrs - on second set of blades......
Noticed lately motor really starts to get hot when cutting
bigger specks (possible amount of pressure being used to cut through
bigger bones) Hove no intention of going back to manual ways
Not crazy about the Bubba Blade for crappie. I had an American Angler for several years that I loved. I have since gone thru a few Mister Twisters and I love the Electric Rapala I have now.
I need to try the Rapala if it is comparable to the American Angler...
Nothing is comparable to the power of american angler. It just eats thru like butter and no strain on the wrist. I can clean 60 crappie and not even feel like I have done a thing when thru. I would be willing to bet I currently own everybrand. When my last american angler went down, had it for 11 years, I bought rapala. Realized it had no power compared to what I was used to so I went with Mister twister, again no power, so went with Mister twister saltwater, more power, but not what I was used to. So I bought a cheap carving knife from wal-mart, and that was actually the closest I could find compared to the american angler. I was trying to save money and not buy the expensive American anglers, but.... Ther is just no comparison. I ended buying another one and it was just as sweet as i remembered! So I ended up spending over double the money before I eventually wound up with what I knew I should be buying the first place. If u have ever used an american angler nothing will satisfy you, but if ya have never used one, anything may do because ya dont know what ur missing. No advertisement here, Just speaking on behalf of what I personally experienced.
Are all of the American Anglers the same or do they sell different models?
to my knowledge they are all the same................do haven't different size / length
blades..............Unit (motor) is same...............
I wouldn't go back to Mr. Twister -Repala if they gave them to me.
Power they have..............as said mine stated getting a little hot after server fish
being fileted. Could be pressure i was puttinmg on blades to cut through bigger boned
fish.... it is sure worth price 90 - 110.00 to own one.
Save your money. I fell for the You Tube video and tried the 7" flex blade and promptly took it back to BPS for a full refund. I have kitchen knives that would do a better job on crappie. Electric is the way to go. Lesson earned.Quote:

I bought a Rapala and it got hot and quit after about 8-10 big crappie. Figured it was a lemon so took it back to W- Mart and got a new one which was as bad as the first one. Am hoping for an American Angler for Christmas if any of my kids are reading this thread.
