Saw one like it on Facebook so I had to have one :) Prolly won't use it much but thought it was a neat way to recycle some old car rims. Time to gather some wood :)

That's pretty cool Jimmy.
That's great.......... I love making my own projects, anybody can go to the local big box store and buy a cheap stamped out pit/cooker that will last about two years......... that there will last a long time.
Matter a fact the best fish cooker I ever had was made out of a old rim.........:ThumbsUp
Good one Jimmy. Could use a couple more bars on top. Should have left a tire on it so you could cook blackened crappie. :biggrin
now that's downright cool..........
might be a bit "rubbery" tho. :Rofl
Worth making a trip to the salvage yard again. I like something like that because it will radiate heat and contain sparks better than an open fire. Thanks for sharing.
That's purty,Ya gonna put a door on it?
Nice but my first thought was, "where's the door"?

Neat concept and I got to have one too. Thanks for sharing.
That's cool! I would just make sure the rims aren't galvanized.
You are right about that Dwayne. Galvanizing almost killed me once, so never again.

Used it for the first time yesterday for my first attempt at blackened crappie and it was oh so good! Almost forgot to take a pic, this was the last piece.... :) :) :) :)
Jimmy. the sun definitely shines on the back of your neck. :) By the way, the crappie is not smoking. Needs more butter in the pan.
My fish had plenty smoke at first but my fire had lost some of its heat and this was the last piece so I let it ride. You put butter directly in the pan? I've never tried it before and the recipe I googled only said to coat fish in melted butter. Didn't say anything about butter in the pan.
If you've got tips I'm all ears :)
Well that's how I do it. I like to get it as hot as I can, without actually burning the fish. Can't cook it inside, cause it smokes.
You can use more papirika (sp) to give it more of a blackend look also. If you use the butter in the pan, be carefull b/c it will burn alot quicker but it can be done and adds to the taste! And like Danny said, it will smoke up the house!
Thanks big D and Shadow
