This is a "Steelhead" mold from Do-It. It uses a heavy duty hook, but the reason I'm interested is that it makes a size 1/64 jig and there are 2 cavities whereas their regular mold has only 1 cavity in several sizes. So you double the number of jigs you make with each pour. But my question is whether or not the heavy duty hooks would be a problem for Crappie and especially Bluegill fishing, which is primarily why I would want a size 1/64 jig.

Don't know how many molds you have looked at but I use a lot of 1/64 oz jigheads and I have almost purchased a mold from jacobs... He has a 10 cavity 1/64 oz mold at a reasonable price... Sorry I don't know anything about that steelhead mold but I looked at that one too rather than buying the custom do it that was 120 bucks
Even in fly fishing you can use heavier wire fly hooks - but even if you were to buy this mold the hooks will cost more. How many of them would you actually use?? Might be cheaper to just buy them from the guys who sell and save the hassle. If you're really going to be using a lot spring for either the Jacobs, #8 hooks or the Do-It semi Pro 1/64th, calls for size 10 hooks You can get it a bit cheaper at Zeiners Bass Shop.
I have the Jacobs 1/64 mold on its way here now. I can let you know what I think about it after I have it a week or so, if you want me to Fatman.

If you want several cavities then check this one out. Do-It number 3121 is a round head, reverse barb collar jig mold. Five 1/64oz and five 1/32oz cavities using 570/575 hooks. Answered your post, Small Jig Head Mold, Sept 25 with this mold information but you must have missed it.
I have this mold and use a lot of the 1/64oz heads for gills.

Thanks, FishAction. I looked at that one, but wondered how much the collar takes away from the size of the head. But I definitely would like to know more about how you use the 1/64's for 'gills. I've never used jigs for 'gills, but I'm thinking that they might be more valuable to me now that I will be fishing from a small boat on a hydro-electric reservoir. I may be off the reservation here, but on the really small jigs, I think I would like a collar. My 1/100 is collarless, my 1/64 has a collar. tying the 1/100 is a challenge as nothing seems to be the right size. The collar on the 1/64 OTOH seems to let me use #2 chenille and get a nice realistic body whereas on the 1/100 I need to double wrap the chenille or use a heavy thread and make an underbody first. The collar IMO helps me keep scale and perspective much better as I limit my tying area to the collar. Either way, not much room with those 8-10-12 hooks and for the small baits, it is tough to keep it in scale. I have several of the older hilts molds Hilts Trout Fly Head Jig Molds
not sure if the link is good, but I bought all the small sizes a couple years ago. Today, I would go with Jacobs or Do-it with Jacobs being my first choice.
You are correct, Fatman, that I'm undecided about a collar. I started out thinking that I wanted a collar and then someone said that if you have a collar on a small jig, you would have to have a pretty small head in order to keep the weight down to 1/64 or 1/80 or whatever. Well, that got me to thinking that maybe I would rather have a mold without a collar. So I'm just sort of up in the air about it. I guess I need to see some jigs that have a collar and some that don't side-by-side for a comparison. In fact, I have some 1/64 jigs that I ordered from Barlow that do not have a collar. Next time I place an order with them, I'll have to order some that do have a collar. The other thing about Barlow is that they have the Do-It molds at a pretty good price and if their shipping is just the standard $6.?? that they charge that's a good deal. Some dealers have the mold at a good price and then charge 10 dollars or more for the shipping.

I hear ya there - Wish Cabelas had more molds in store, I'll be out in Michigan at the end of this week for my grand daughters birthday and the extra it costs in store is about the same as the shipping, but not any I'm really needing any right now. Before I got my collar less molds I was sitting and cutting them off - using more and more with out them even with plastics.
I've gone pretty much collarless on all of my panfish and some of the walleye jigs now. I haven't cast a panfish head with a barb or collar for ten years. If I want to tie, I lay a bed of thread down, hit it with cement, and tie over that. No spinning materials. If you use plastics the days of split and torn up baits are long gone without the collars. I won't own another mold with a collar unless its a bass jig and half of those that I have I have filled in with JBWeld and retro-fitted to the wire keeper.
