Smitty and I are talking about trying to put together a camp this winter in December . Post up if you would be interested in going to one. He's having a tourney at wind creek park on lake Martin and was thinking about incorporating it in with it.

60 views and no replies...... Come on guys give us some feedback
I would.
Mississippi is having one at Enid Oct. 18....Y'all come
Probably not many replies with the December timeframe. I do my fair share of fishing but do not care to do it when I can't take my hands out of my pockets. The December weather is extremely iffy, may be 80 or may be 20... It is also hunting season and many crappie fisherman hunt. I may be in the minority in my opinion though.
Ok let's think about this spring. That's why I started this thread was to get some feedback and ideas.
Spring would be fine with me. This may be a cold and white winter.
We could possibly come to a crappie camp but I think you will have to schedule it around some of the national tournaments in our area and also local club tournaments during that time of year in order to have participation from some of the tournament folks from our area. Keep us informed and we will try to make it.
What is a camp?
I'am with alexava what is a camp but yes anything to improve my crappie fishing is a go.
Spring time would work for me
A camp. Would be a get together at a state park that has campgrounds where we could fellowship and fish. Over a few days.
Thats workes for me just keep me updated on the date yall set.
If it happens a date 6-8 weeks out will facilitate scheduling. Let us know.
I would be interested if it were in March or April
May would be good to we could do do night fishing
I am in for whatever date for the camp. I would like to invite you to attend the December 6th crappienutz fruit jar tournament at Wind Creek park.
We have tournaments on the chattahoochie river lakes on 1/10, 2/7, 3/21, 4/18.
Please don't make it these dates if possible and join us 12/6. Martin fishing is on fire in December.
We have a fruitjar tournament 12/6 and looks like interest for a camp get together will be in the springlove to have you fish with crappienutz. Invited coosa river club and west Alabama club. Also our group of Alabama/Ga anglers will be there. West Alabama has a tourney that day but want to set a future date to meet us at Martin.
I'm in on camp-just don't make it a real cold time
That's better, a little more response. Lets think about the first couple weeks in April . Fishing should be on fire then.
I would be game for late winter, early spring as well.
sounds great, im in
I am all about a camp anytime!
So when are we doing this shindig?
Waiting on you Smitty to pick the date. I'm thinking 1 st week in April.
That is Easter weekend.
March 7th???? or april 11????????
March the 7 th the water will still be real low , I think April will be better
April 11th then. Can't wait.
April 11th would work for me. It'd be nice to meet some more Bama crappie.com'ers and learn about how to fish martin.
I would also like to know what happens at a "camp"
Crappie camp of Crappie.com started in Arkansas by Jerry Blake and Darryl Morris. I am sure several others were involved but Jerry and Darryl planned and hosted them. This was the early years of Crappie.com They had informal seminars by those that knew the new techniques and Crappie patterns. They camped a few days, fished, had a small tounament and a fishfry on the weekend.
Looked like fun so a few on the ga board wanted to do it. I set up a date on lake Harding and named it Slabfest and with the help of papasage and shinerunner off it went. Two of the original events are still held each year on Lake Talquin in the fall and lake Blackshear each spring. This is about the ten year anniversary.
So really a Crappie camp/ Slabfest is just people getting together to enjoy Crappie fishing, learn or teach about Crappie fishing, camping, a big fish fry from the catch, a fruitjar tournament and just a great meet people passionate about Crappie fishing.
Fishing Thursday and Friday.
Friday night hot dog supper.
With longline trolling seminar
And river lake fishing seminar
Saturday morning fruitjar tournament
Fish and grits after weigh in with dock shooting workshop and competition. And a tightlining/spider rig seminar.
How does that sound.
Late March, early April and I am in.
April 10th-11th
Those dates work for me Smitty. Let me know what I need to do.
Attachment 176488 Here's a history showing the lake levels at that time. We should be close to full pool on those dates if the rains come. :ThumbsUp
Works for me. Can the mods sticky this thread?
