Meet a guy from NC who told me they use bait blocks to attract fish to one spot. Does anyone know how to make it? when to drop it? and when to fish around it?

cottonseed meal cakes work great for this.....you can get them at a farm supply or feed store
but how do i prepare it or use it for fish. do u know?
You can do it one of two ways...place cakes in a sack like a grapefruit sack.....the mesh kind. and you can either sink it or hang it from a limb where it is just under the surface. The next day there will be fish all around it. It will last until the cakes dissolve......large pieces like a foot square and two in thick will last several days to a week
Ol Roy dog food.
yep.....you can also sink a bale of alfalfa hay too
You really do not have to bait out a honey hole if you use Arkie Jigs........just saying
that b true
The bait block works by attracting bait fish which in turn bring in the fish. And that was not a plug....its da truff
The Crappie are not attracted to the baitblock ... just the "minnows" in that body of water, and possibly fish like Bluegill & Catfish. The Crappie will come around the baitblock for the sole purpose of feeding on the "minnows" & small fish that gather around it.
... cp :kewl
yea i know that much just wanted to know, if i dont have access to cotton seed meal what else can i use
Ol Roys Dog food.....put it in a burlap sack and sink it with a concrete block You can get it at WalMart
Next time you clean fish. Keep the remains- mix with table scraps plus some banana peels. Put in onion sack along with big hunk of Styrofoam. Tie 5ft. Of rope to cinder bock. Sink in 10ft of water. Give it a few days. Works like a charm.
which is better in 8-10ft of water. near the surface or bottom
Just be ready to catch Catfish where you bait!:twocents
Cats for sure
yep
THe use of dog food, either canned or dry will pull in catfish & carp to eat the dog food. They like the sent, and the carp, dogfish & other trash will probably push away your crappie
Must be some bad ars crappie at my place. Theys cohabit with bass, brim, drum, carp, yellow perch, cats et al.
You will also catch every turtle for a mile
so what to put in the bait block to atract the crappie? or just then small minnow that the crappie feed on
you know what u right. this lake has 400 turtles lol didnt even think about them
Your studying about this too hard......just go fish lol
ok ok ok lol i just wanna make sure i nail this because i never used one before. But all i got is some old dog food, some frozen wild tilapia, bread and some rice. hope it works
Ten to 14 ft. Of water half way down. Don't worry about the turtles- every time they shake the bag it just sweetens the spot. For whatever reason bananas are important? Good luck.
