Should pick up once we get into October
2 days in a row last week I seen different boats fishing close the the bridge on Red Mill. I stopped by the ramp Monday afternoon. There was a guy pulling out. He had been fishing up river. He had a dozen or so in his live well. All were small but at least we know there are a few there.
BUZZZZ
I had planned to fish up there all week but only fished Monday because of the rain. Caught 2 keepers all day! Saw several other boats but no one else was catching anything except the guy that was catfishing with persimmons !!!
I went up yesterday to see for myself. Only 1 keeper and a bunch of small ones. I'm gonna give it 3-4 weeks before I go back
I had planned to go today until I looked at the radar this morning!! Have every intention of going tomorrow. Were you jigging or using monnows ??
Spider rigged jigs.
Tried again yesterday. Real slow !! Picked up a couple of dinks and 2 keepers all day. Half a dozen boats there when I put in- all were gone except one when I came out. Still too early I guess.
Don't think the crappie run this year is going to be anything like some past years. Two of us fished yesterday and only had 4 keepers at the end of the day. Worked the Neuse from the first powerline to about a half mile from the tressel. Full parking lot when I got there and only one was still there when I came out. Didn't talk to anyone that was catching.
Tried it again today. Got to the ramp about 9 and the lot was full!! Fished hard all day and got 3 keepers !! Did not see anyone catching today. Looked like a real bad case of lockjaw to me. Going to give it up until Friday-- maybe it will get better !!!
It might be as there is a front that is due to pass Saturday.
I was told yesterday by a crappie "expert" that you never fish the day after a bright moon. The theory being that if its a bright night then that's when they feed and will not eat the next day. We have been on a full moon for the past 3 days. Having said that-- I don't care-- I'm still going fishing tomorrow !!!
I am picking up my new rig sometime tomorrow. I have been boatless for about 8 years now. I will have some 1st hand reports on the eno hopefully this weekend. The water on the river still looks pretty good from what I can tell from the bridge on Red Mill. We will see what this rain does to it today.
Capt, I cant wait to get into some of those White Bass next spring. I may need some inside info LOL
BUZZZZ
Hey Buzzbait
I went two Fridays ago, only caught one.Talked to a friend who went Thursday of last week and he had around 40 keepers.Around 10 ft deep.On minnows.
Lot of rain coming in.See what it does to the fishing
I just got back from the Eno. Did not get anything except WET. I'm thinking "Big Weather" on channel 11 needs to find another occupation!! There were only 4 other boats there and no one was doing anything. I thought they would turn on today since the front is moving in tonight. Didn't happen.
The weather is coming!
Here she is. You will be seeing me on the eno real soon. Attachment 176372Attachment 176373
That's my kind of boat.congrats buzzbait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where are the reports? Went Friday caught around 30. 13 big enough to keep
Where is Eno?
If you caught 30 up there Friday, then you did better than everyone else that was there. I was on the water at 9 and the parking lot was full!! Fished until 3 without a hit. Saw a few little ones caught but nothing of any size. Talked to a half dozen people and no one was catching. Came out about 3 and the lot was almost empty.
My son and I fished this morning for about 2 hrs. Had stuff to do at the house. We managed 12 with a few keepers. Here is the biggest. He won the bet we had. Sounds like the bite is pretty good. Attachment 177256
I was in a basstracker boat.If you were fishing deeper than 9 ft or less than 8 ft you weren't on the fish.Nice fish buzzbait. Also the ones we caught were in small areas not scattered all over.Hope this helps some one
Hey Guys went Thursday there where 4 trucks in the lot when we got there around 8 that morning didnt have much luck caught a few keepers nothing to brag about nothing over a pound. The wind was blowing pretty good. Talk to a few guys that we saw nobody was doing much good. so we decided to go up Flat river watching the fish finder never saw more than 10 fish on the finder. Maybe they will be coming on in a week or so when it gets a little cooler....oh we did catch a few white bass up around red mill bridge....
Went Sunday evening. Ramp was full but everyone said it was slow. we caught a few but all small. The fish were caught on jigs and small threadfin.
Drazorgo forgot to tell you where in the ENO we caught the fish Friday.:fish
Anyone fishing the Eno tomorrow? I will be there around 9am.
I went today.Caught several nice crappie and a whole bunch of little white bass. 7 to 8 ft deep near fallen timber.Used minnows. The lot was full
Buzzbait-- sent you a PM
Sounds like the bite is pretty good for almost everyone on the river. I had a pretty good day. I fished solo till about 2. The larger fish have finally showed up where I have been fishing for the past few weeks. I had 12 good keepers when I left today around 2. Caught all my fish about 6-8 ft deep.
I plan on hitting the ENO in the morning. Hearing good reports. We'll see. Definitely looking forward to it "first timer"!!!
how did you do boom714?
@ Banjo - Had a decent day. Didn't catch 80 or anything near what we heard they were catching Monday and Tueday. I kept 20 nice ones.. Required a little work. First stop was at the 2nd power line.. caught 7 or 8 slabs, 2nd stop was @ 1st power line.. 7 or 8 again.. moved back to the 1st turn just up from the boat ramp (trees in the water) 5 or 6 more... decent day.. that was my first time. definitely going back. waiting on the weather break
good job, 20 nice ones is a good meal!
Went up the Flat yesterday. Crappie were few and far between but the whites were everywhere and hungry. Started at 10 and quit at 2:30. Got a few decent crappie for dinner tonight and froze a bunch of whites. Had planned to fish Horse Creek today but Big Weather just said high of 46 (no problem there) but NE wind at 10mph. I never seem to catch on a NE wind!!
Rode by the river yesterday. Water is a little muddy. I am going to give it a try mid week. Not sure about the flat. It's usually clearer than the eno. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
I'm thinking Wed and Thurs. on the river!!
I took tomorrow off. Should be on the river by 8:30 or 9. If anyone is planning on fishing the river tomorrow soot me a PM and maybe we can share some info on the water tomorrow.
BUZZZZ
Did anyone fish up there today- Thursday??
Good luck out there.
