Anyone ever get bitten? Heard they can bite and feels like a bee sting
I am not familiar with banana spiders, but have never been bitten by any spider as far as I know.
There the BIG spiders that are black and yellow and build a big web between trees
You know Fall is here when you see the banana spiders. The big webs they spin between the trees in the yard. Bright orange the webs are that span several feet between the trees. I have always found it interesting that they can they can do that 20 plus feet or more, and the webs are as tough as fishing line. They do bite, but not too bad. I still have no feeling on a tip of one of my fingers where a black widow bit me picking black berries.

Spiders give me the creeps.
I hate walking through their web in the dark going squirrel hunting. Nothing wakes you up faster than a spider on your face. :D
A lot of people call them Banana Spiders but they're Golden Orb spiders. My dad called them lightning spiders. I never knew why. And they WILL turn you into a ninja if you walk into their web!
A true banana spider is the fuzzy one shown above. They're also known as the Brazilian wandering spider.
True banana spiders from South American can be deadly. Back in the 60's was tied up at a pier in Charleston SC next to the banana boat piers. About every day a ambulance would haul a guy out of there that got bit by one unloading Bananas. I think they finally came up with a way to fumigate the loads with something that would kill them and not be toxic to humans.
Oh man Id rather french kiss a rattlesnake than to have one of them things on me......I do like em though, they serve a great purpose when it comes to helping control insects and stuff and I admire their whatever it is...intellect I guess youd call it...to build webs and catch critters. As long as it stays over 5 feet away from me...:biggrin
I wonder if that the kind of spider folks use when they spider fish for sacs?:dono
Have you ever run into their webs. I think that's where they get spiderwire from. Man that stuff is strong and sticky.
"gene"
I hate spiders. Other than roaches nothing else creeps me out like spiders.
We got several of these around the house right now. Never knew they bit.
Got bit by a brown recluse on the foot years ago. Made a hole bigger than a quarter. Can still see the spot. La fish nut, you had me laughing thinking about your post. I hate walking into a web. But I have learned son new moves while doing so. lol
Danny, you look like a ballroom dancer for sure. Have to see some of 'em moves in February.
(You know I'm funnin' Danny)
How about I bring you some this year?
I squirrel hunt a lot and do some shredding in the woods a lot and am always running into these spiders. I have never been bitten nor know of anyone who has . I think they are harmless, but still scary. Especially when you feel those little legs crawling on your neck. That's when you do the banana spider 2 step !! What a coincidence! I dreamed I was surrounded by big huge spiders last night. I thought I felt one crawl across my face. I woke up and slapped the s**t out of myself.
Dapet, sounds like you didn't slap all of it out. At least not the bull kind.
They aren't bad but those little crab spiders will mess you up, you wont feel the bite but you will start to itch and then swell up. My hand was swollen for three days. They are the spiders with the web that looks like a triangle I see them in Sherburne a lot.
