There were 2 vehicles at Engineer Point and 1 at Beach Point at noon. You should not have to deal with other boats. Good luck.
Talked to a friend who went today. He was cranking. 2 crappie and 1 catfish in the box.
Not too good unless your on the fish. Very very scattered. Trolled 7 hours Sunday got 2 in first 5 hours then 8 more the last 2 hours. Gotta hunt for them.
When does the fall bite usually heat up at sardis? And what tactics or depths are best fished in the fall? Say October- November? I'm new to this crappie fishing
Spent from 9am -2pm today jigging and pulling cranks nothing in the livewell today. Lake level is really low now lots of hidden stumps on surface. All the spots i had last year are dead this year lots of bait movement but no fish
After another 18' drop it will be "really low". Keep at it; they're going to turn on.
its still good to put in at holiday, right?
Yes. Put in at coontown today. Little muddy but that's it. Got 11 Friday and 12 today. Put in at Holliday Friday.
you trolling hotrod1? need to get my boat out and run the motor. been holed up now since May. probably going to try some jigging and see if I can scratch up a few.
launched there Wednesday, still was one functional ramp left. if the water drops any more it will be questionable, may have to start heading to Engineers by October? depends on how big the boat you are fishing with.
Trolling. I jigged hurricane last fall and had no luck. They don't stick around when it's dropping. Guy needs deep structure to jig. I'd say jig the timber between Holliday and Coontown. That's about it. Worth a try. That's the only jigging I see in the route I take.
got any pics of that 1648 setup hot rod? Ive got a 1652 with a new 30 on the back im trying to rig it up for crappie fishing
No pics. I use Atwood rod holders. Got 5 on each side front to back. Just mount the brackets and the rod holders can be removed. Those are for pulling and drifting. I've got a custom rod rack on the front with 5 Atwoods for pushing that rack removes with 1 pin. Best advice on set up is mount everything evenly on both sides front and rear. Run all same poles and reels and line. I bought the rod holders on eBay. Walmart has the new style in stores. I have the older style. They are tuff and rotate 360 and go up and down. Takes less than 3 seconds to remove them off the boat.
Lot to be said for keeping everything consistent.
Fished 0930-1500 jigging, Fished just about everywhere from Harmontown to blackwater. Caught 1 about 2 lbs in 8 feet water out from blackwater. Not any other bites. Wind was bad but fishable jigging. But apparently the fish didn't agree or there just ain't any down that way--which is hard for me to believe even if the water is dropping. About 7 trailers at holiday by the time I put in and 2 were coming out. only 3 left when I did and 2 of them came out with me and only had 1 fish. Hard to figure out 1 big one being down around blackwater and not another bite anywhere. At least I got my boat out since May and ran a little stable and sea foam in it. Always seems to work for me.
I jigged all fall from hurricane to river last year. Got nothing not even a thump. Won't do that again. Trial and error.
I won't be doing it too many more times. Just hard to believe all those fish move out of that much water. I think they're just out in the open water and not around the trees. Just not my favorite kind of fishing.
Went last Friday managed 3 trolling jig n minnow 12ft water near damn.
No takers on the bandits. Lots of short fish
I've put the cranks away.
Iam starting to see folks changing over. Me and the wife crank till thanksgiving.
