anybody been to green

I been twice in the past 3 weeks. 49 one trip and 33 the next week. just wondering how everybody else is doing...biologist seem to think that greenriver is so over stock being the reason the size is down....I for one think the reason for the size of the fish is not because it is over stocked, but for the pass few years there are more and more boats fishing. and probably acre for acre there are more fish taken out of greenriver everyday than any other lake. That is not giving fish time to grow. I wish they would make the size limit 10 or 11 inches and see what happens...........what do all of you think about it??????????????

You didnt mention how big the 40 and 33 You caught were? I will be adding another boat to the lake soon and am hoping for bigger fish too!

Good friend went last Sunday and he said they got 31 keeper 11"-15" and had only a few dinks. He fishes Green at least once a week.

Slabeye ... I don't think a 10" size limit would hurt Green, and it wouldn't bother me any, either. We'd just have to wade through that many more "throwbacks" for a year or two, and give them time to get over that 10" length.

Maybe now that Cumberland is back to normal pool, and after a couple of years of good spawns brings the Crappie numbers back to high levels, some of the pressure will be taken off Green.

i dont remember the exact size but out of the 40 i think 30 was 10" or bigger and the 30 day had maybe 10' or bigger.....

And how many of them did you put back into Green River Lake ?? :scratchhead (my guess would be ALL of them :fingerdance )

i think out of 82 that was keepers we put all but 30. the guy with me one day kept 30

bigtom1 does your buddy fish tourneys? if not he should if he catches that many big fish in a days time (at green).

Im with you slabeye, I will take quality over quantity anytime. I don't have any idea what the answer is but my guess is like yours,, raise the size limit.

When they removed the size limit on Cedar Creek lake the fish started getting bigger. Not even the same animal as Green River Lake I know but it sure made a difference.

i am probably wrong but I think the reason why fish don't get as big in green is because they don't have time to grow......just think of how many 9 inch crappie are taken out of green everyday....anymore when you go you will see 15 to 40 boats crappie fishing and just say 40 and they average out to get 20 keepers per boat that 800 crappie....... that is why when somebody goes with me I tell them to just keep 10" +..........

We have that same problem in some of these Southern Ohio lakes only for years we had no size limit with a 30 fish limit. Everyone complained so the state made it 9" limit and kept the limit at 30. Personally I think the problem is more the 30 fish limit. I continually see where guys are keeping 30-50 fish a trip. I can see keeping some fish but who needs a 100 fillets 3 times per month.

Slabeye, I tell everyone the same thing in my boat...just keep the 10's or better and once (of if)we get to about 15 fish in the live well, I close the lid.
