I am contemplating selling my boat. Its a 2010 V172c with 2012 90 hp Yamaha. Probably close to 25 hrs on the motor. Powerdrive 70 lb thrust with ipilot and U2, Lowrance Touch 7 with structure scan on the console. She ain't mint, but its hard for a boat not to get some scratches. If I decide to sell what do you think would be a reasonable asking price. Still up in the air on what I want to do.

The used boat market has been leveling out over the last 2 years. Right now is considered by most to be a buyers market. If you wait till next spring the market would be a sellers market. Some things you can try. Contact your financial institution and ask them what it is worth. Call your dealer and ask the same. Look online and see what similar boats asking prices are. Ask your insurance man what it would cost to replace it. As far as the add ons go, they are like TV's and computers, once you leave the store they are worth about half price,sad but true. Not that long ago. We are having some issues at the place we are renting and want to speed up the process for building a house. Banks don't give a crap if you have no debt other than the land payment. I don't know that I want to get rid of it, but the possibility exists.Quote:

Sounds like you have done all the right things so far. If you have only a land payment and you have your down money, why would the bank care if your toys are paid for? Seems that would strengthen your case. Are they wanting you to sell the boat? That is very odd, you might be better off expanding your home loan search. Your boat is paid for, I would keep it and enjoy it as you have whenever possible.
We are using the equity in the land as the down payment. You'd think between what we have into it, and improvements (purchased a $5300 water meter, electric) we paid for out of pocket they'd be interested in getting this project going. The wife wants to sell my truck. We could get just shy of what we paid for it and owe nothing on the land. As she sees it, they don't care if we have a payment.
Well it's been decided. Boat will go for sale. You will see it in the classifieds soon. If someone buys it now great, if not I can store it till spring. After we get the house build started I will be boat shopping again it appears.
