A slow start=A full tailgate 9-6-14
Dad and I headed to Nimrod yesterday morning to catch some crappie and spend some time with my wonderful girlfriend.. We got on the water about 8:20 and the wind was already whipping.. We headed to a spot where we've had great luck in the past and started getting everything ready I went ahead and got her rigged up and no sooner than she put the pole down she caught a 3 inch white bass... I put her another minnow on and about 3 seconds later it seemed like she caught a catfish.. I had almost got everything situated and almost got mine in the water by the time she caught the first crappie of the morning.... So she was 3 up on me before I even got a hook in the water.. Dad caught one or two.. Then one or two more... Then she just got in the rhythm and started yanking them in and was I think 14 up on my before I caught a ill dink! Lol! The crappie there wasn't the type we where looking for so we moved on and found some up in a cove in about 6 foot of water, 3 foot deep and started catching some pretty decent ones there it think we managed to put 33 in the live well here before the bite slowed down so we moved on to the next cove and the fish here were of better quality and here we finished off our 3 limits about 2 and between then and when we got off the lake at 3:30 we culled a 15 9 inch fish for 10-11 inch up grades.. Overall it was a great day besides fighting the wind.. And I had way more fun watching her and letting her catch fish than I did catching them myself.. We caught well over a 100 fish and majority of the fish we caught were on straight minnows but the bigger ones on the 2.5 southern pro glow tubes.. Man I love them things!
