Went by Scotts and picked up a couple of chickens to see how they would do. Need another 45 minutes or so.

You are so cruel. Its one thing to buy em in the store already dead, but to kill em yourself is different. I bought some live Quail and once I cleaned an dressed them I couldn't eat them.
Nuttin to it Wilbur, nuttin to it. Just animals and put here for our enjoyment which includes eatin'!!!!!!:biggrin
Bout done got ready to eat, hope its fittin'.
Don't want to spoil your dinner but while your eatin think back about tearing their little heads off and feeling their warm little bodies squirtin blood out. ENJOY yo Chicken
This is what I rub my chicken with....its really good stuff. Attachment 172533
Quarters are my favorite, when it comes to grillin chicken. Looks Good.
Nap time!!!!!!!!:biggrin
I'm gonna buy some rabbits from a friend of mine. After I dispatch them, should be some goooood eatin!!!!
With your DD spelling I thought you had a post on doing Lamb Quarters:Doh::Doh:
Nothing cruel about it Wilbur. Lots of folks don't think about where their meat comes from. It doesn't magically appear on the grocery store shelves. If you've ever been to a massive pig or poultry farm operation or even a meat processing plant for companies like Tyson or Sanderson Farms you will come to understand a little about cruelty. I grew up on a small farm where we raised everything we ate. Chickens, beef, and pork "from snooter to pooter" nothing was wasted. The leftover stalks, peelings, and hulls from the vegetable garden were used as a feed supplement for these animals. At an early age a kid quickly learned to take care of the critters that were gonna eventually end up on his plate. He learned about the circle of life, how God put creatures on earth to serve and nourish mankind. He learned about the, maybe not so pleasant, but necessary, duties performed on a farm and required to put food on the table. I know not many folks these days have the experiences of small farm living. As people grow more and more detached from these things they seem to grow less and less tolerant of those who still prefer to do their own hands-on raising and butchering. Call me cruel if you like, but I for one would much prefer to know how my meat was raised and treated.
Started to do chicken my self. But did ribs and Boston butts. Man i'm full but still hungry. HAHA
Wish I had a peach cobbler but Ms Tammy has been puney the last couple of days. I'd really be sick then!!!:biggrin
PETA........PEOPLE EATING TASTEY ANIMALS
What kinda rub should I put on my Rabbits? :)
Know dats rite!!!!! Wild Quail aint too bad either!!!!!
we can do that at fall camp, got an inside on all the rabbits we need, you gonna have to drag yo geezer butt over a few days early, this sprang we had done ate so much before Saturday most of us weren't wanting nuttin to eat!!!:Rofl
Not sure about the rub, cause like everyone else I've always fried them. It is interesting "not to mention healthier" to try grilling. I believe I would boil them first, possibly in chicken broth to season and to tenderize. Then rub down with some olive oil or maybe bacon grease. At this point experiment with several dry rubs on different pieces till you get something you prefer. You could possibly slow cook them in a crock pot instead of boiling.
I'd sure like to donate a bunch of these limb chickens. Only problem is y'all would shoot me. They been cuttin pine burrs and won't be edible for another month or so.
Looks great John
You got that right.
