I really like using them, if the water is real trashy I will use them on all the rods. the weight will catch the trash and not fowl the bait near as bad. Too sometimes the fish are holding deep, too deep to get a bait to them without the weights and this makes it easy, good luck.
Thanks for the info Rees I've been using that egg sinker with the line wrapped through it about 5 times have y'all ever use the crappie cranks1.99 from Wally WorldAttachment 171399
The black one is a arkie that I painted the white and black one is a crappie crank
Use the Arkies a good bit when pushing, haven't used the other ones. The Arkies have one heck of a wobble, looking forward to fall with them, got a couple of 18 foot poles I intend to push the Arkies with while long lining, Scott caught some during the spawn doing that with the Arkies.
Thanks Rees You are one of the many crank bait fishing gurus on crappie.com that have helped me with my crankbait pulling and pushing learning curve That's one more piece to the puzzle
THIS PLACE ROCKS!!!!!
Ole Scott's weights are the right stuff for pushing cranks. I've been using them for a couple of years with great success.
How do ya'll set up the line and use them? I have tried several different ways,, just wondering if you do things differently,,,
I am running Depth Hunter braid so I try not to do much if any cutting on my main line, so I just snap the weight to the end of that line and then tie or snap a 3 foot leader to the weight and then tie or snap the crank on.
I'm glad you got them. You'll catch fish with them, for sure. Try using some Arkie crankbaits with the pushing weights. That's normally what I have on my push poles.
10-4 on the Arkie's:ThumbsUp
i have been running all kinds of stuff on push poles,r runners, AL.-rig,sliders,beetle spins,sm rattle traps, but the cranks produce the bigger fish with the AL.-rig close second.
Scotty can you pm me so I can order some of your weights?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking that pushing would be much better than pulling in standing timber like we have down here. Seems to me it would be easier to deal with. Do you guys still run the rods out the back of the boat? Thanks.
Randy most of us push from the front......just use your spider rig rod holders
I push from the sides just like I pull, just me. Rather the pole be to the side if I hang up than up under the front of the boat.
Well I push from the front but my rods are towards the side...I just turn my rod holders and use different length rods.
The pushing weights will pull the crankbait down the same no matter how you have your rods positioned. It seems to me that it would be easier to maneuver around obstacles if you were pushing with your rods pointed forward.
Makes sense, think I'll try them Scott. pm sent. Thanks.
How much weight do you use when running 20 feet deep (30 ft of line) at 1.8 mph using 10 lb test line?
I have never pushed any that deep only push 12-13 ft. And use 3 oz but my understanding is use enough weight to keep your line from laying back any less than The 45 degrees.
Got my weights over the weekend and am setting up. What rods do u fellows use?
I have been useing B and M PST's 10, 12, and 14 ft. but there are lots of others that will handle the weight also.
