Sharing The Slabs / Pics

I have been sharing kudos for the past couple years with a friend from Vermont. He had a desire to catch a 2lb. plus Black Crappie. We talked and I said I most likely could help him get that done. Well the last 2 days we have been on the Slabs. We put 81 from 12-16 inches in the boat. All but 2 were released. Those 2 were his 2lb plus crappie. He was Happy. One was 15 1/2 the other 16. Weight was 2 1/4 and 2 1/2 lbs. He has plans to have those mounted. It was a good 2 days and I am tired but happy for him. Us old folks need more rest.

Beautiful looking fish indeed. Remember this however, a 2#+ crappie up here will take many years to achieve that size. These are the prime breeders with the genes you need to keep propagating those sizes. You would do yourself well to consider releasing the largest of the species and take the smaller sizes for the dinner table. JMO. Great job! :)

If you read it I said all but 2 were released. Those 2 were kept too mount.
