painting jig heads

me and bigjohn are gonna get together to paint some jig heads in the near future. I have come to the conclusion that at darbonne in the fall jigs are hard to beat (sorry tracker). I have spent tons of cash on shiners, but honestly jigs seem to be the ticket that time of year. anyway.......

would anyone in the Shreveport/bossier or surrounding area be interested in joining us for a little painting party?? kinda like a dude painting with a twist. LOL all you will need is the jig heads you wanna paint. and if you need a source to get some i have a site that has sickle hook jigs in about 10 different weights and about 5 different hook sizes. I have at least 20 different colors of powder paint and I have all the stuff needed to paint them. so if ya wanna join the fun, just shoot a reply and I will make sure to let ya know when we will get together.

Sounds like a fun way to spend some time. Count me in. I have got a 4 cup fluid bed and heat gun I can bring if needed. Would iike to check out your jig head supplier. I forgot where I got my last ones at.

Wish I lived closer and had more time. I've been known to paint a few jig heads.

Is it cheaper to paint your own jig heads, or do you do it just to have a better selection of colors?

Whenever u r ready Doc. Truth be know George, it's kinda like deer hunting...you don't want the cost per jighead any more than the cost per pound on meat. It I just so much fun.

I completely understand that. I don't ever want to know what my fish or my deer actually cost per pound. Saving money was never the point.

I don't mind knowing just don't want the wifey to find out lol!!!!!!

Looks like a good time was passed. What is everybody's favorite jig color head. See pink and blue, but what about other colors. Looking to get into doing some painting and wondering what colors work best.

Thanks for posting the pictures Mark! Enjoyed them. I know nothing about painting jigs, so I'm curious. Why is there air lines going to the fluid beds?

Randy I'll answer that one for you, the air goes into the bottom of the cup under a filter and bubbles up through the powder paint causing it to undulate much like water, thus fluid bed. That in turns make it easy to get an even coat of powder on the jig head.

Had a great time, enjoyed seeing friends again! Thanks Doc for setting things up, this is what makes being a member here so great....it's more than just a forum. I have many friends that I would have never met had it not been for the interaction here.

Learned a few tricks that I did not know and shared some ideas.
