Another crazy adventure
OK, I'm going camping again.........this time at an even HARDER lake to fish than Greeson! Ha.
Wife has appointments in Hot Springs next week. So.......I said "Hey, let's just go camp over there for a few days". So, we're going to Lake Ouachita State Park from Sun through Friday, Aug 3-8.
I may be the onliest Arkansan that has never fished Lake Ouachita. I have never caught diddley squat on these deep clear lakes.
But just to make you pro's happy, I ain't taking a single dadgum minner. I plan on trolling cranks and jigs.
Gone Sunday. Back Friday night. If I catch my limit (my limit is ONE), I'll take a picture.

Have a great time, Bill, and we expect to see more than one picture!

Ya'll go and have some fun. If you figure out the deep clear lakes, I could use a tip or three.
-
Good Luck Buck rub Stayed there as part of me and my wifes honeymoon caught them deep in brush in the three sisters coves. White/pearl tubes, 1/8th oz pink heads tipped with minnows. :biggrin

Look up constructionskeeter for fishing around Hot Springs.:biggrin

I'll be in Hot Springs from this afternoon till Tuesday morning.

BRM, PM sent.
I'll see if I can find 3 sisters cove. But I ain't taking no minners. Going cold turkey. Gulp. I hope I can stand it.
Randall, I'll share everything I learn!! If you expect it to be more than zero, you'll be disappointed. But......I have had luck 2 or 3 times in my life. We'll see.

Was out there Friday, caught some nice walleye and bass trolling cranks, no crappie. Pull something shallow, 100s,200s, across the points straight across from the park. The area where the sailboats are anchored was good too. I tried down toward Brady, no luck. Crappie have been tough for me out there as of late. Good luck!

Home.
Tried all that, RBM, and the only thing that bent my pole was seaweed.
Too many other problems cropping up here to worry about being the worst fisherman in Arkansas, right now!
I will say, Lake Ouachita State Park is for yuppies with kids on bicycles with cute helmets, and at least two very expensive dogs to constantly walk and use the grass in the park for their personal outhouse, some monstrously expensive bus-houses, and a few boats carrying water lice stuff with really loud radios. That's about it.

The "big pond" is a different deal. Don't feel bad about not catching anything. I cuss it regularly. Might as well go on over to Nimrod with the rest. I'm kinda hinkey about the water there now, think I'll go up to Mr Cella's and see if I can find one fast horse or eleven slow ones. Good luck!

Well..........a confession. I ran over there from the campsite for 1 hour on Thursday. I was only 35 miles south of Fourche Junction. Drove through a monster storm to get there! I 'trolled' (strolled is more the term I've used) a few poles with jigs, and pulled cranks. I never got a nibble. I was alone, dunno where all the boats were (probably on fish!). I found several 'tops' or brush along the sides of the river channel. I stopped and vertical jigged a few of those. Not ONE nibble. Nothing.
Boat started taking on water........I'm guessing the plug was not tight (????)....so I left and went back to the camper.
So..........I can't even catch 'em on Nimrod. I SURE don't see how anyone catches fish on clear lakes where it's 130 feet deep 50 yards off shore (literally), and you can see 10 feet down. But got more to worry about than fish right now, so it ain't the problem it was a few days ago. THANK YOU for the advice though, I did try it. Even tried Greg's advice at 3 sister's cove. All I did was disturb a Mama duck and little ones, that swam in front me in single file. That was neat.
