Allen's motor on his boat has spun a prop so he's now looking for something between a 60-75 hp. If anybody runs across one at a reasonable price be sure to let me know. Oh, I'd assume he'd want either an Evinrude or Johnson since we dont have any Mercury mechanics in our immediate area. It's for a Tracker boat and his transom measures 20". Thanks.
New prop won't work?
Saw this on the Colunbia craigs list. 2001 Yamaha 40hp (4 Stroke)
Wish I could have found one like this for my boat. I ended up with a 95 Yamaha 55HP. It runs just fine, but this is a lot newer and better on gas.
Oops was going from memory which is not good. He wants a bigger motor than this. I can sell him mine and get this for my boat. :bash just kidding.
The motor actually broke a rod inside that goes from the head to the foot. Allen was told he had to buy gears and all...that you just couldnt get the one piece and the parts are gonna cost more than he wants to put into such an old motor. I shoulda made myself clear. Sorry.
Butch there are a couple of motors listed in the carolina trader in the 50 to 60 hp range first one843-270-4427 60 hp Evinrude and a 40 hp 803-351-3355 for $1000.00
I gave those numbers to Allen and he's gonna call them. Thanks for the help and please keep looking in case those are too far away or whatever...:)
That's the motor that I have and it has served be well, and it'll run on fumes too.

If it broke the shaft from powerhead to lower unit he just needs a new lower unit. Unless he just wants to upgrade.molehill ask around for you . I know where a few are.
what size motor is it GBM I have some 1999- 90 hp Johnson stuff that might help

Oh...I misunderstood you Remus. Allen has a Tracker (evin/johnson) 40 hp motor and it's OLD. I'd guess in the 70's or 80's.
