I've pulled with the 12' but wanted to know if the 16 will work without too much bend.

I don't like em for cranks, don't like psts either, tips are easy to break. Wanna try the Southern Crappie Rods, hearing good things about them. I do use BGJP for longlining
I haven't had any problems out of my PST's (16').....and have had them hung before. All my crank poles are PST's have haven't had to replace a tip yet....knock on wood:twocents
Pst is all I troll with. I broke 4 rod tips when I started using them 3 seasons ago haven't broke another yet. Went threw a bad batch. Pull in some heavy cats in with them while cranking. Love the action detects bites very well.
use them, have never broken anything. On my 4th year on this set.
Have the 18' pst and I like it. Never tried to bgjp, but would buy another 18' if this one ever broke. Holds up well, line breaks before rod does
I've pulled with the BGJP 12'ers, but after awhile, the broke about 6-8" up from the joint. I was told by BnM not to pull cranks with them. They did however replace two of the tip sections for me on the ones I broke.
Par for their course---Great Customer Service!!!!!!!!!
I have had good luck with all my PST's also ( all 10 of them) and I have had them hung up rod bent under the boat....big catfish and even a huge carp and they are still hanging in there no problems.
Same here. PSTs but the wife broke 2 tips when we moved LOL
DD, tell her they are not tail gate proof, i got eight pst 14's and never a minutes problem...
I have 2 20ft. PST that I pull with and they work fine except for putting together in a 18ft. boat..
Yall can praise a PST all you want to but they WILL NOT hold up like a Wally Marshall Tite lines Special, an Ozark, a Firecast, Southern Crappie Rod, Pinacle Limit, or the New Bass Pro rod and that's a fact, I have pulled with all of them and the ONLY ones I have had an issue with is the PSTs. There are a lot better options out there and I for one don't have to own a PST, matter fact if someone will take this last one I have off my hands I wont have any more, by the way, it needs a tip section.:banghead
And dont tell me I am hard on my equipment cause that just aint so.
I admit I was upset with pst when I got em they were snapping like firecrackers but after replacing the tips they been great grizzly jig replaced everyone that broke. I have a Wally Marshall tight line special from bass pro I got years ago now that's a rod. Has way more backbone dont know what there called now its a med/hvy action. It was 35 bucks back then. His rods now are double that. I would still say pst they push 3 oz weights good and pull up double white bass you can't beat that. So Rees you to hard on your rods thats what I was told also. It's just a bad rod tip production run.
John. ...you're just hard on you're equipment. Haha. U opened that door
:Rofl I was told the same straight from B&M when I broke a brand new one, they replaced it and I sold it. I use the BGJPs and some of the others for single poling but just don't want to worry about tips all the time. I was also told that I HAD to use a net when landing a fish, they weren't built to lift the fish in the boat, the fish in question I was supposed to use a net on was a 10 inch Tibby that might have weighted a half pound.
I'm done with my rant on the PSTs, you like use em, they are light, now someone get this 14 footer so I can be rid of it.
I get a deal on the Crappiemax Tight Line Specials from Bass Pro. That's what I'm using now to power troll and pull cranks. I've used some of the Wally's Tight Line Specials from Bass Pro for years on the Toon, and they hold up better than the rest I've tried for pulling cranks with. Ain't much of a Spider Riggin pole tho. They're way to stiff IMO.
I like most of the BnM poles, and have 2-3 different sets, but the only pole they make that I've never used is the PST's, so I don't know jack about those.
I like the Ozarks Really well, but the customer service is slow, and basically lacking (if it breaks, you bought it). Customer Service is where BnM shines!!!!!!!
I use a mix of PST's and old tightline specials.... Haven't had a problem with either.
I have the old Tight Line Specials too. I dont get too fish near as much as most on here but when I do they've never let me down. I spider rig and pull cranks with them. Might try to find something with a little softer tip to spider rig with one day but for now they will have to do.
My bnm jig pole tips last about two trips. I AM rough on equipment, but my ozark 14' do well. A little limber for some techniques, but I make do. I've beat then around and they hold up well. I've got a hodgepodge of rods, and some great BnM poles, but there are a few I don't care for, just haven't gotten around to replacing. Right now I have the tip section cut down 2 eyes on one rod, it does pretty well for being rigged up!
Didn't mean to start a best cranking rod thread. I crank with 12 pst's with no trouble and used 12'bgjp's with not trouble prior to the pst's , but we don't have the quality fish like ya'll do even though we have hooked into some pretty good trash fish from time to time. Just wanted to know if anyone had used 16ft bgjp's because I have a set of those for spider rigging that I could use to get just a bit wider, but they are awfully whipping on the tip. If I get brave enough or stupid enough, I may try it anyway. Thanks for all the input. A guy sure has some options I wasn't aware of if he is looking to buy some new ones.
Tell ya this. ... ol capt.dan's got a pair of 20' pst's that go hog wild when lifting a fish out of the water but they have held up so far. Only times I have broken tips is hooking into the 5/8 cable's on those house boats docked in the marina. Sounded like a 22 goin off.
