Sick of that crap, is it over???:puke
Me too. I know it is one of the most popular sports world wide and the players are in tremendous shape, but ........30 or 40 minutes or running up and down a field without the first score, no one knows how much time is left, because the ref can add time at this discretion and it all just makes no sense to me. I can't watch for over 5 minutes before my mind is somewhere else.
yep
I think ol Bill is dreaming lmao
I tried watching it but just can't get into it either.
I don't even want to watch my Grandkids play it, much less a bunch of arrogant foreigners. Good riddance.
Ah, come on. The only game that you can't get up for another beer or potty break for 45 minutes at a time.
I've got every world cup game recorded on dvds. I watch them while tying and reloading. I'd rather watch them instead of some other games.
canebreaker, have you been sniffin' the color preserver?? You can get up any time and go potty. When you get back another player will be flopping around like he had just been hit with Thor's hammer.
I coached soccer for a season and a half. Started working so much overtime the other coach had to take over. You could not run fast enough to get me to coach those little monsters again. As far as watching something while doing another fishing task I'd have to vote for bowling. My dad watched so much football and baseball when we were kids that I don't care about either except super bowl and world series.
Would not give the air out of last years(any) college football to air up the game ball if it would stop the "world cup". Was introduced into Ms. athletics as a means of getting more kids involved . When baseball became huge soccer was raised to the status of "that other sport " the flow of workers to the yellow creek rocket booster plant was a key to soccer getting off the ground here . Corinth was losing folks to live in Tennessee because we did not have it . School dist. quickly started adding soccer to reduce the housing market woes and give the lesser athletes and immigrants a place to fit .Part of the feel good group of self esteem gurus . Yes I am the Archie Bunker type and still think Baseball, apple pie and hotdogs are where American dreams should start . JMO. :twocents
Ah Archie, where's Wanabe, I mean meethead????!!!!!!:Rofl
I was attendant coach for my son's first 2 years of playing. He started when he was 3, before these new modified fields and rules were in place. Then 2 years of head coach. Then years of helping with the coaching where I could. When he was 14 he was playing in his age group for the fall and spring rec seasons. During the winter and summer he was play on adult teams. And playing on a select team in Memphis. His senior year of high school was the first year Desoto county schools had soccer. He won a scholarship to Holmes county where he messed his leg up pretty good in the last game of his freshman season.
Soccer/Futball was here long before baseball, football or basketball.
don't like it don't watch it. I suspect the majority of the world thinks crappie fishing is lame. I have friends who can't understand how sitting on a lake waiting for a fish to bite can be fun. how many hours have any of you gone w/o a bite? I bet longer than a soccer match. at least its something positive in the news instead of murders, drugs and other violence.
Soccer/Futball was here long before baseball, football or basketball.
I grew up in the mid 70s leaving Southaven in the early 80s, when we moved to Southaven there were baseball and softball fields there that were OLD, some just used for practice as they were old enuff a new park had been built to take their place. There were NO soccer fields at this time there, basketball the same, and I am sure American football as well too. Remember in college there were a few folks that played soccer but it was very very few in the early 80s.
I am not knocking the sport just not for me but to say it was here long before baseball, basketball, and football in North Mississippi is just flat out a false statement.
To each their own, there atheletes have to be in excellent condition to do what they do.
RG, hate to say it man, but the American Indians played a game very simaler to soccer. The Chickasaw and Choctaw played it here in Mississippi long before anyother ball gane was brought to this state
" In North America there is very little evidence for pure football (or kick ball). In Stewart Culin's detailed book "Games of the North American Indians" he states that football is mentioned as occurring among four Algonquian tribes: the Massachuset, the Micmac, Narraganset and the Powhatan and there is some reason to believe that kick-ball was known among other tribes.
The natives used a very small ball of buckskin, or sometimes of stone about 3 or 4 inches across, while goals were two sticks erected at the ends of the course, or simple lines on the ground. In most cases the rules allowed the ball to be both kicked and thrown, or hit with a flail or other object "
Not saying they didn't play kickball or sumpin but in anyone on this boards lifetime basesall has been more predominate has it not???
In north ms where Canebreaker is and was talking about there may and I mean may have been 4 soccer fields in Desoto county. Baseball fields well over a hundred and they were maintained where soccer fields weren't.
oh, i agree, baseball has def. dominated in our life time.
Too bro, the Choctaws been playing stick ball just as long as they been kicking a ball and even they have chosen the stick over kicking it as they play today.
All them sports suck. Basketball football soccer baseball. the only true sport is Drag Racing. BHAHAHA
Don't know about radios on a deer stand, but my old cell phone had different songs set as ring tones for different people. I was bow hunting one afternoon and had three deer almost in archery range and moving toward me. About that time, my son called me. They stopped, looked around for a second, twitched their tails and continued on toward me. Turns out they must of liked Lynyrd Skynyrd.:biggrin
Sitting in a box stand on the side of a 400 yard field there is little chance of them hearing a radio even if the winders were open, why not. 99% of the action here is at last light anyways and windows are open and glassing by then most of the time.:biggrin
drag racing ain't a sport. the only true American sport is professional wrestling. Of course, I don't watch women or midget wrestling because they are both fake. Football, baseball, basketball and hockey are all fixed too.
Here in Desoto county we have 4 cities, each has a soccer complex of 4 or more fields. The high school teams have to share the football field for their futball games. I haven't missed many of the Southaven or Horn Lake games over the years.
With my youngest starting with soccer the baseball, basketball and football games were a bore to him. He still doesn't watch many of those games on tv. I'm mostly busy doing other things and miss them.
If you put a soccer player in a football game he is asking, "why all the time outs."
If you put a football player in a soccer game he is saying, "time out."
One of our prized soccer players moved to Grenada years ago. He played football for the high school and Kirk Academy then MSU. He kicked a record field goal of 52 yards in the 11th grade for Grenada. I saw him about a month ago. I feel that I'm over weight at 185, he has to be 3 times bigger than me.
