Hey, CDC Folks,
Does anyone use this when slip cork fishing? Does it help?
Is it just silicone spray? Will WD 40 do the same? :dono

I have used it.....seems like it helps some for a short while.....never used WD 40 for that........
Its good stuff....I keep some in the boat at all times....just spray your whole reel down line and all.....works great
use it....when I remember to...and like it when I use it.....
Thanks for the replies, but
My question is/was does it (reel magic) help the slip cork "slip"?
Yes somewhat.....Reel Magic makes your line slick, it also softens it and helps take out memory....so....yes it will help .....you also have to have enough weight on your line to make a slip cork work properly.....my experience with slip corks is to use the smallest size you can get by with for the bait you are using....when using crickets and worms I use a small inch and a half cigar shaped slip cork...I ad a small 3/0 size split shot to weight it where the cork will stand up after the bait has gone down to set depth. When fishing shiners I use a larger slip cork and a larger split shot.
How about on braid? Just curious.
It can be used on braid.....click here and read what Jimmy Houston says about it TTI-Companies, Fishing is our life! - Real Magic
Thanks for the link G, I appreciate it.
Just make sure it's the one in Aerosol can. The stuff BPS sells is made by Blakemore too, but it's different with the same name. It sucks, but like the stuff in the aerosol can a lot and have used it for years on my line when still on the reel. Does good for lots of things though.
I don't want to add weight, hurt's the bite/action. IMO
I guess The PETROLEUM DISTILLATE in the spray could soften the line and the silicone makes it slick.
. I usually fish a 1/16 tube with my cork. I modified the holes in the bead to get the best slide. Thinkin the silicone spray would help with line twist and the slip.
I hope to test it in the AM.:biggrin
JR, I had lazy seat belts in my Toyota Tundra. I soaped them good and let them dry, I then sprayed them with silicone and they slip nicely now. I would think it would help on slip bobbers, spray the bobber and the line.
"gene"
When I started using it I found it does help. It is also supose to have something in it that like sunblock, blocking UV that shortens the life of the line. WD-40 will make all the airborne dust stick to reels in storage and it dries making the stuff bad for freshwater , but it is good for flushing Salt off
Yes the stuff is even good for your seats and dash as well as a ton of other items.
I use it to reduce line memory.
Works great
Reel Majic works well on a stuck bendix (the gear that engages the flywheel when you try to start the OB). Just rotate it up toward the flywheel and give the spring and shaft a good squirt. I used it about a month ago. That's worth having a can in the boat. Yeah, it works well on the reels also. As far as the line goes, make sure you have a clean passage throuth that stopper. On some that I use, I put a stopper plug or what ever you call it in the top and bottom of the stopper so the line is free to pass thru the stopper. Hope this helps. SLIP
I use to fish with inexpensive fly rods that had cheap eyes. The line didnt slide through the guides well, a spray of reel magic would solve the problem. Still use it on my reels when I saltwater fish. Works great.
