Need some crankin help!
Hit the Big G Saturday and Wheeler today. Yesterday had one 5lb channel cat and a 2 lbs white stripe, today 4 bass and 5 more whites stripe. So I'm catching fish, but not a single crappie to speak of. So there must be something I'm missing in all of this. I fished creek beds in 20-30 FOW, creek intersections, main channel and structure area all in 20-30 FOW. Trolling Bandit 300s at 90-105' behind the boat at 1.8-2.0 mph. Soooo, what's the secrect to this maddening deal?

Looking good Bob, ha ha. By the the time I get my stuff ordered you will have it figured out. Then you can teach me a little something. Good luck with your experience.

I would guess they're just not in the area your dragging through. Sounds like you are doing what I do. I fish bandits in about 20 feet of water. Look for new places to try. Maybe slow down to about 1.5. If you can find the fish, you will catch them.

Thanks superfly!! I'm sure fish are there. They're all over my fish finder and I've got a good one. Not sure about predominant color paterns when it comes to cranks. I got the colors down for green fish, but maybe not the crappie?

Well, I'm sure this will draw other opinions but. White is always a good choice. Grenada shad is another. Throw in some greens and pinks, black and chrome. That's Pretty Much My colors. Hey maybe they just wasn't biting that day. They won't always readily hit a crankbait. Some days are just tough . keep trying, you'll get better.

Well, Mad Cow, chrome w/blue back and pink with white belly have been the producers so far. I've tried the bream patterns both the green river bream and the bright blue patterns. Ever use fire tiger? I have with out results. And have also tried a couple of the crawdad browns and greens as well.

PINK, Catches anything that swims.

When you saw the fish, how deep were they? 100 foot of line at 1.8 is about 16 feet deep or so.

Yea fish I'm graphing are from 15-22 ft deep. Went again yesterday and got a chance to meet Callshy and see his rig. Man have I got a long way to go!!!!! Scott's rig is absolutely amazing. I was catching all kinds of fish yesterday but the crappie had moved off this area and the yellow stripe were thick. I had five on at one time and the cats were pesky as well, but the N wind kept the grass off the area and it was fun all the same. Yesterday color didn't seem to matter much everything got bit. Well, back out to deeper water to find some fish. I did manage to catch one nice black though jig fishing up under a causeway.

Good to meet you Bob! Our crappie results were about the same that morning. We ended up finding 10 crappie but plenty other fish. Got to go back yesterday morning and caught 13 drum, 8 cats, 4 yellow stripe, 1 white bas and a whopping 3 crappie! It was a terrible weekend for me and the crappie!
I will have to say, the floating grass was a pain and kept me extremely busy!

It was great getting a chance to meet you as well!!!! Thanks for the tutorial on how to set a boat up for trolling. I don't feel so bad seeing that you were catching all the same stuff I was. Lol
-
Yeah, Bob. Scott has that Ranger set up real nice.

That is way too funny dude! Glad all the drum I've caught doing this so far are way smaller than that pig. The cats have really been messing me up though. I just call them all collateral damage (drum, white bass, yellow stripe, catfish, and yes the almighty green carp/bass) as I hunt for the crappie. Like this bunch I found Saturday night finally! :biggrin
