Ski trip gets slimed!

Well I met up with Jerry at the ramp at 7 am for a little ultralight catting today. Sure makes it more sporting using light tackle with 6 lb line. We only fished 1/2 a day cause wind got bad on the river. His boat will need a trip to the car wash with all the worms and Catfish slime on it.:Rofl We caught well over 100 and kept our limits (40 ) which he donated to Renewal Ranch . It is a ranch that helps folks with problems with substance abuse get right on track again. We also rode around checking out his Hunmminbird 998 and his Navatronics chip.

The thanks goes to my good friend, C.A., for the donation to Renewal Ranch. Actually this is the third year he and I have done this together, and he has known all three years that's where the fish were going. So, thanks to you again, C.A. for a wonderful day on the water and some great fun. Renewal Ranch is a Christ centered non-profit drug and alcohol rehabilitation center on about 110 acres of land about a mile over into Perry County from the Toad Suck dam. Men come there when they've hit rock bottom, and want to turn their lives around. They are housed, fed and taught scripture and christian values and behavior for a minimum of 6 months, free of charge. After they graduate, they go into a Phase II program where they actually go out in the world and work, but under the Renewal Ranch umbrella, with continued connection to the ranch. In 3 1/2 years there have been probably 75 men who have been saved and baptized and the ranch has had something like a 65 to 70% success rate. They are really doing some good work in men's lives, restoring them to their lives with family, wives and children. The ranch's mantra is "Restoring broken lives through Christ". and they are really doing it. You should have seen the faces on those guys when I drove up with an ice chest full of catfish! You would have thought I brought them an ice chest full of Omaha steaks! Anyway, it's a good cause, and thank you again, C.A., for being willing to take me out there and fish for such a good cause. Thank you, buddy!

He has a navionics chip in his that shows 1' contour lines. Helps find depth your looking for but seemed a little off the mark. Could be we are just learning how to use it.:dono

I asked him the same question. I think probably the data was collected when the water was deeper. It really doesn't make any difference. Your sonar will show how deep you are. Just stay on the same contour line whatever the number on the map happens to be.
