Looking for some cheap rods for pushing cranks. Who has some suggestions?
Check Cabelas. They some times have their Cabelas branded trolling rods on sale. Most cheap and 12 ft don't go together for pushing.
Kind of what I figured Cray. Just checking for any sales that someone may know of. I'm a pro angler guy so if I can't find a good deal I'll go back to them
I have used the 12' Limit rods from Grizzly Jig. They bow down but they worked, probably some better rods out there but you did say" cheap"!!!! Think you can still buy 4 rods for $60.00 plus shipping .
Define "cheap"?
No more than $40 each
Thanks guys!
Never pushed cranks before so looking for recommendations, going to order from pro angler; would you buy a medium/heavy 12ft or medium/light? I plan on using Steve's 3oz trolling weights and pushing arkies off of the front of the boat
Med/Heavy, that firecast 12 foot glass rod Grizzly has would do nicely and they are 20 bucks a piece if you order 3 or more.
Thanks Rees, I appreciate your fast response & input
IMHO, the finest, most sensitive, strongest rods I have ever fished (I own & fish the 8' & 10' 90%of the time) the Pro Angler rods can't be beat for the price!

Just scroll down to see the 12'ers. Also I recommend the cork handle.
Don't doubt they are good but they aint cheap, for what 5 of those cost he can get a dozen of the FireCast. Also pushing doesn't require a GREAT rod, heck there are some folks down here still using cane poles to push with.
I do like the looks of those rods tho.
Can you send me the link Rees? I believe I'm looking at the wrong rod on there
May have to call them, think they are only in the catalog on page 39.

Things are stout too, 2 pound crappie is no big deal at all just lifting in the boat.
Awesome. Do you know if the guides are stainless? I use 15/4 Ppro
Aint got a clue but ScottV has been using them for a while and he uses braid with no issues. Pushing you wont have near the line stress as you aren't reeling near as much as you would be pulling. Ask them when you call, they are very helpful and top notch.
Check out Northwoods Wholesale Outlet. I have some of their 12 ft Okuma Trolling rods and they work great and are cheap to buy.
Thanks spindle
