Don't know about crappie but I used to make a buzz bait/spinner bait with them for fishing bass on Kentucky lake. Put it on swivel with snap, cut back upper wire real short and attached swivel to it. White skirt and bent the blades out from center so it would spin. It would spin for a second then stop and pop the surface. Sounded just like a shad poping the surface. Fought a lot of good ones doing that. Have several in my blade box I have never used and like you cant figure out how to rig them in a bait for crappie. Really don't know how they are supposed to be rigged.
What about in line in front of a jig and bead? Kinda like the Bumble Bee blades used to do. Slide the blade on, then the bead, then tie the jig. Food for thought.
Those blades are over 1 inch long! I would think it is better suited for a bass jig instead of a crappie jig. It could work but it may be spinner heavy. They look cool if you can get them in 0 or 00.
You could use them on a beetle spin frame if they were the small ones - a size 2 either a bigger in-line or a 1/4 or 3/16th spinner bait.
They make a nice live bait walleye spinner rig set up with a bottom bouncer.
I have never tried this for crappies; maybe next fall after the lakes turn over and the crappies go deep.
I rig #3 pony's for spider rigging down home on Enid they was hitting it like candy. 1/4 Oz & 3/8 Oz work well!
how well do those blades spin is do they have a slow spin or a fast.
just read you location was thinking ice jig's lol's ? what about a crawler harness? with a couple beads and a few snelled hooks throw some minnows on and wall-la use a walking type sinker 1/4-3/8 ounce in a spider rig
