What size rod do you use for trolling and why?
jigs or cranks? I use different sizes for each technique.
Jigs
When long lining I use 14 at very front, then 12s, then 10s, and may fish 8s. In the back I fish 6.5s to 8 footers. This keeps line separated for less tangles and better spread. When pushing or tightlining I use 12s or 14s in front of trolling motor. The longer rods get to the fish before spooking them with the trolling motor.
As I feel you need multiple sizes for different techniques I voted other!
I use 6'6" on up to 8' rods depending on what I'm doing, but there are numerous methods that can be thrown into the "trolling" method.
I use 2 14 footers in the bow center, then 2 12 footers on each side of those, then a 10 footer on each side of those.
Those lengths seem to produce a better "fan" or spread than having them all the same length. The 14 footers at the bow center gets the bait further away from the trolling motor as well.

what size and action for pushing cranks?
Mostly just 10' poles if not and 8', but I am not slow trolling or pushing. I just longline with one rod in hand. It works for is here really well!
14's for me spider rign
I think 10' will be the most selected choice but it is not available to select so your results will be skewed.
14fters slow trolling. 8- 10fters straight out the back then 2-14fters n 2- 18fters off the sides but right next to the tens when i'm long lining. Using the 8- 10fters lets me move rods around anywhere i want. if i catch one on the middle rod, i can move the other rods down then cast out to the side without worrying about crossing lines. the 14 and 18 are out far enough that they're not in the way at all. Can cover 42ft of water that way.
Was using 4, 14' up front, center. I just purchased 4, 16' for front center, and I will use 2, 14' on each side of the 4 16' rods.
Don't understand why using different length rods are better. If the front two are 16's and the ones next to it are 14's, then the 14's are closer to the TM. The 12's closer still.
A lot depends on the shape of the bar holding the rod holders and what direction the rod holders are turned. If you look at the pic of my rod holders, the 12's are definately further away from the trolling motor.
If you had rod holders mounted the same distance on either side of the center of the boat or center of the trolling motor and all other things being the same, the rod holder with the 14 footer will always be further away than the 12. Physically impossible to be otherwise.
Longlining jigs i use 2 16s, 2 12s, 2 8s up front and 2 5s and 2 7s out the back.
I use 16ft spidering
