Nice catch! Thanks for posting.
And I went yesterday for 1 fish. Wow have I got a lot to learn. Wait I don't see any catch date so maybe they were caught at another time and then I wouldn't feel as bad. :) Anyway I'm glad somebody got to them.
Whoa that last post made me an even 1000 posts.
Nice!!!
I salute you mermentau and my hat's off to you swampman for that great catch.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!......great catch SM.........
congrats Mermentau.....:ThumbsUp
Beats the heck out of the 8 we caught Wednesday when I took my WW II buddy. I knew I had a lot to learn but I didn't realize how much.
It's a matter of time for Henderson, just hold on to the hats!!
More to learn than what i have learned. LOL
Nice catch!!!
I'm going in the morning! My first trip fishing with new motor.
Is Henderson the only place ya'll fish? LOL
It will make a fisherman out of you if you have the patience to learn it but it is constantly changing and if you miss a week you have to start all over to find them. I've fished 4 different patterns in five trips there and it's been slow each trip but I have always managed a mess of decent fish so I will be back waiting for the magic to happen. The Lake has changed so much over the last 40 yrs that I've fished I wish I had pictures from when I first started fishing.
one thing for sure about Henderson is it will teach you every pattern that a sacalait can have!! sometimes you will fish more than one pattern in a day!! depends on what area of the lake you are fishing!!! i have learned to try everything you can think of at each spot you fish i think the fish are always there they just are not always on the same page as you!!! LOL!! it can be frustrating but it teaches you patience and makes you a better fisherman!!! like i always say if you can consistently catch fish in Henderson you can catch fish anywhere!!!
Well ledouxmike I will tell you this I do know a few patterns but none are really working right now!!!! Lol!!
Thank goodness I am not the only one......I mean, just how many patterns can you try to catch.....you got shallow, you got deep, you got colors, you got slow fishing or fast, slip cork or tight line, you got jigs, crank baits or shiners, you got on the bank or off the bank......you got muddy water, good water and black water.....and water rising, falling or standing......then there is pre-spawn, spawn and post spawn conditions.....sometimes you have to find them.....then they may not be feeding.....most of these I have tried my last few trips.....with little success.....sometimes it is just dumb luck of being at the right place at the right time with the right bait and presentation......one rule is watch where the other boats are going and how they are fishing.....works sometimes, but then, do they know more than you....and I have not even got into what line or type hooks or poles....
The only sure thing that works for me is a cup of hot coffee on a cold morning after being on the water for about an hour or 2.....beats sitting home watching Judge Judy........are we crappie fishermen nuts or what.....
Ate some last night......that was success.......
Nice post Bruce - that's the truth. You really know what it's all about, and what's important. Folks post huge catches on tailgates, coolers, etc. on other forums. And do it every single day when they go out to prove a point or something - to somebody I guess, don't know. There are some that's all they do, nothing else in life. Others, like you, are content with doing what you do. I like that, like it a lot. Thanks for posting.
Well Mr. Bruce you pretty much covered them all right there and on my last few trips i tried everyone of those plus a few more with some luck but not much!! so to add to your list i will try these as well!! try the grass the big lay downs the countless brush piles that i know about or have put as well as against the lillies under the lillies with my lilly rake the dead trees or stumps the live trees the submerged stumps the drop offs the flats the drains the cuts in the banks where the current passes the boat docks the woods the pilings the railroad tracks the top secret spots (that when the fish are biting you find out arent that secret!!) the cement platform the pits.............. i think thats most of them!!
Fished today from 630 to 100 and caught 1 10inch fish!!! What would it be like if every time we went out we would catch our 50 fish, do y'all think they would taste as good, do y'all think we would want to be up for 430 to go fishing tomorrow, guess I'm just saying bad days are good some days!!!
Yes swampman that's why they call it fishing and not catching lol and believe me I've been fishing this year. It sure makes the days you catch so much more special!
