X2 what Hat Said......Ranger
I was just eating my last one (onion sandwich) a minute ago. Hard to find them like that!
Those were good crappiepappa!
For you gardeners the onions are called Candy. They come in yellow, red, and I've heard white. They are a super sweet onion, but don't store as well as 1015's or Granix. They come from deep south Texas. I think Redge has started growing them as well. I wont grow anything else. Thanks for the compliments guys!
cp...I hope you realize what this means for next year!!!!!
I am growing the Red Candy and the White Candy. You can order them on line from dixondale farms. It's kind of funny I saw PPG, off of the Louisiana forum talking about them, so I ordered some. Then I find out CP is growing the same variety.
Dave Brown I am thinking, onion rings and awesome blossoms at Crappie Camp next year!!! We definitely have the right cook for the job!LOL
Sounds like a great plan to me!!!! dave
Ya'll do realize that chapter 9, section D of the National Association of the 'Cant Get Right' cook book states "All cookies are required by moral ethics to taste each dish before subjecting their quarry to such". I am a firm believer. :biggrin
Would expect nothing less CP!!!!!
X2 with Dave, Redge ................. dj
CP,They will store in PANTY HOSE for 8 months.Drop onion in and tie a knot, drop onion in tie a knot ,repeat until you fill your panty hose PAPPA!!! LOL.When you are ready for an onion cut below the knot I hope this will help you keep your candy for a while longer!!!!!! Oh your onions look delicious !
I'm not even going to comment about what my wife would say to me about using her panty hose to store onions!!
We're not goin there! Lol
BEING SERIOUS its an easy way to keep them hanging up in the shed or where ever in the shade or cool place and the hose is suppose to keep them longer.Saw this on a gardening show.
I've have a friend that just puts them in a paper sack in the closet! They ate them all yr!
