Looking to set up my bowfishing rig, and don't want to pay $150 in shipping. Looking at the Briggs units, user them before and been pleased. Anybody know any more about these units than me or any advice on where to pick one up?

Look at "generator's direct" no shipping no tax. I bought a 5500 generac from them $720 to the door. they have all kind, so be sure you look at the right catagorie. Some of the portables and pro models are quite pricey. They also sell other lawn equipment. Just type in what you are looking for followed by the word direct. Lawnmower's direct has some great prices. I bought a weed eater from them, think I typed in string trimmer direct.
Harbor Freight has great deals.

Seems like a lot of trouble for a rough fish. Heck, just text DD and he'll bring you all the stripes you want.

Saw the site for generators direct, didn't know how well they stood behind their stuff, thanks for info. Speck, I been looking at that model pretty hard.
WB come on with me one night, it's fun... You'll see then
I am in the market for one also, does anyone have any experience with the one speck posted? I know the genera is a good one
the look at the weight and db ratings, not just the price.I run a briggs powered 5000w on our rig,its kinda heavy and loud.Going to a pair of yamaha 2000 inverters soon.what kinda lights you using? Find you an old truck bed mat,Cut it in half.cover just the front and top of the genny.it will cut the noise a lot. WB...bowfishin aint like regular fishin...you hunt them down and killem !! almost like using dynamite but legal and all.Attachment 165172
Call me when it's legal to shoot Crappie. Till then, I'd rather work on my outboard motor than ride around with a generator 20' from me at 4200 rpm slapping skeeters and oogling carp.

Just picked up a brand new Generac 5000 this past week at a estate sale,,, never used,,, would let it go for $500 if your interested Mo,,,
I was going to buy one my buddy had, but with my luck I figure a 2 year warranty may be worth the extra money I pay. It's gonna be about 610 new shipped for the harbor freight unit, or the Briggs 5000 for 699.
those are old...like REAL old.they are 400 hps parking lot lights.friend of mine had several pallets of them,he gave us 8 of em'.If i was building a new rig and had a few bucks to spend I would use 150 hps lights and power them with a yamaha 2000 inverter.400s make an insane about of light, about 51,000 lumen.150s make 16,000 lumen.compared to a 300w halogen at 5,000 lumen.Don't buy your generator before you chose your lights.you WILL want a quality inverter after a few nights of running a regular genny.
I'm running 4 500w halogens and 2 750w. That's why I was wanting to get the 5500 genny to push them and have enough left over for some other doodads. Most of the lights I have are home made rigs. Looking to build a platform possibly for my new boat so I can mount em solid and be done
I've hunted with just the generator before and it doesn't bother me as far as noise goes. Music drowns it out for us
Run all the lights u want....Attachment 165314
Big H, seeing that picture sure brought back some memories. That's all the oilfield used 30 years ago. Always cranked up, no matter what. I remember pushing down on that toggle switch to start them. They are bullet proof. Didn't know they're still around. Thanks for posting.
No problem. ....Was looking for stuff on CL and seen it figured it would get a laugh out of a few
