Input please! New to pulling cranks!

In light of everyone posting pictures of the great success they've had pulling cranks I've decided to give it a go. Problem being I need some advice on a line counting solution. I will be using power pro 15/4. I'm using this specific line because it is the same diameter as the Berkley fire line used in the precision trolling guide. I'm also using spinning reels. I will upgrade my gear once I learn how to get it done with my current set up. I just don't want to drop all that coin before I get my feet of the ground. Thanks! Also, any other advice it's welcomed!

If you don't want to buy line counter reels I suppose you could mark your line every ten FT. Hardly ever have more thans 100ft. back. 50 to 80 is about normal.

Need to ask Wilbur, he pulls his crank all the time.

Go to the Mississippi board and read the sticky on pulling cranks it is all explained there, lots of great info !! It is very addicitive so BEWARE !!

Depth hunter, my bad. It is 4 different colors and then starts over, each color is 25 feet long with a white mark every 5 feet. I put 200 feet on each of my spinning reels, spooling them all the same so as not to be confused.

Rees, slabo, bow and Wilbur thank you all! I'm going to try to make due with what rigs I have at the moment here at a few nice local lakes. Once I get the hang of it then I will grab a few magda 15x's before I head down south early July. Just dropped 50 on Bandits but I'm going to look on that Chinese site for some cheapos right now!

Try this, my neighbor has been using spinning reels for years. Throw out a good cast, strip out 1-2-3 or 4 full arm lengths of line, put in holder and go fishing. Remember which is which then you can mak adjustments. My line counters work for me but he kicks my behind on most days.

nother option is to push cranks and you will never need more than 30 -40 ft of line out.

Try pushing some crankbaits also. I use a 3 oz weight up the line from my crankbait about three feet. I let out my line and the depth of the bait will be at about 2/3 of the amount of line you let out. I've recently been catching more by pushing the small Arkie crankbaits than by pulling the larger baits.

Right now I'm pushing with an 8 ft pole and a 12 ft pole off of each side of the boat. You need a fairly stiff pole for pushing when using the trolling weight. I keep my rod tip about a ft from the surface and the rod is angled forward.

Those should work great as long as they're not real limber poles.

I just got home from working and it was like Christmas! Bee ready rod holders a couple 10 ft rod and a bunch of 300bandits! Hitting a small lake in the morning to see how this is going to work our for me then taking my Ol man to another lake to pull on Sunday! Thanks for all of the help and info you guys have shared!

You ought to have it bad by now if you figured it out. Be ready for the surprise fish too. Had a 5lb 1oz Largemouth hit one of mine yesterday. Big cats like em too.

Skeet I had a blast yesterday. It was for sure hectic since it was my first outing plus doing it by myself, but I like the challege and caught a few fish. I basically expected a dry run because I was just wanting to get a feel for it and see if I wanted to changed my set up at all, the fish were just a bonus!

I posted that pic on C.com and was notified by cell phone within 60 seconds that Steve's snap wasn't closed. Lol And that was the bait that caught that fish.
